Aniimo's iOS and Android Launch Uses the Same Save as Xbox and PC
According to the developer's announcement, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Aniimo officially launched on mobile devices, arriving simultaneously on iOS and Android platforms worldwide. Pawprint's publisher, FunPlus, says the iOS and Android versions feature full cross-platform and cross-progression capabilities with PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and aniimo.com). Notebookcheck put it plainly: the mobile release isn't a separate product bolted onto the original; link an Aniimo Pass account and the same save follows you across all of those platforms.
The servers went live at different local times. Americas opened on September 22 at 22:00 (UTC-4), Europe on September 23 at 02:00 (UTC+0), and Asia-Pacific on September 23 at 10:00 (UTC+8). The PC and console launch followed the same pattern a week earlier. Pawprint set that launch for September 16 at 10:00 UTC+8, which put the Americas server online on the evening of September 15 local time. That explains why Steam lists a September 15 release date while the publisher's materials say September 16.
The game itself was first shown at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2025, according to iPhone in Canada. It is set on the continent of Idyll. Players catch creatures called Aniimo using items called Aniipods, and the headline mechanic, called "Twining", lets you become one of your collected creatures and use its skills. One More Game says players can collect over 200 Aniimo, utilize the unique Twining mechanic, and explore the expansive world of Idyll either solo or with friends. Notebookcheck also reports a mobile-exclusive Obsidian variant as part of the mobile launch rewards.
Aniimo Cross-Progression Stops at the Server Boundary
The official launch post gives the rule in one sentence: log in to the same server with the same account to instantly sync your adventure progress, resources, and party lineups. The phrase that matters is "same server". Pawprint's account FAQ says data on different servers is independent, and that progress is fully shared across all platforms only within the same server.
In practice, cross-progression works across devices, not across regions. A character on Aniimo-America does not appear on Aniimo-Europe, whichever device you use. Pawprint has not published a way to move a character between servers. Plan on your existing character staying on the server where you created it.
PlayStation 5 has an extra constraint that shows how strict this is. Pawprint says the PS5 server is assigned automatically from the region registered to your PSN account, and cross-server progress sharing is not supported. PS5 players are told to check that their existing character's server matches their PSN account's server before linking. Pawprint's FAQ maps countries to servers. Canada, the United States, Mexico and most of Latin America are on Aniimo-America. The UK, most of the EU, Turkey, the Gulf states and South Africa are on Aniimo-Europe. Australia, Japan, Korea, India, Singapore and Taiwan are on Aniimo-Apac. Pawprint does not describe a matching automatic assignment for Xbox, so don't assume one exists either way.
Earlier test data is a separate matter. Pawprint says data from previous playtests will not carry over or be kept. Test participants can check eligible rewards and archived eggs from the "Bonded Promise" event through an official rebate portal by signing in with their test account. Cross-progression applies to live characters only.
Xbox Players Get One Chance to Link a Microsoft Account in Aniimo
For Xbox owners, the most important line in Pawprint's documentation is in its console FAQ. The first time a Microsoft account or PSN account signs into the game, a pop-up offers to link an existing Aniimo Pass, the game's own email-based account. Pawprint says that this pop-up is the only chance to link. If you skip it, the Microsoft account registers a new Aniimo Pass and can no longer be linked to a game account that already has one.
That makes the order of steps matter. Someone who started on Steam or on Pawprint's own PC launcher with an email-based Aniimo Pass, and then boots the game on an Xbox Series X|S for the first time, should accept the link prompt. Skipping it through a launch-day queue or a pile of pop-ups leaves you with two separate accounts. The same warning covers a new phone installation. Mobile shares progress only when you sign in to the same account.
Once linked, more than the save carries over. Pawprint says achievement and trophy progress is shared across linked platforms within the same server. Items from console pre-order packs must first be claimed by logging in on the console where they were bought, but after that they can be used on other platforms on the same server. Anyone who bought packs on both PS5 and Xbox can claim both by linking both platform accounts to one Aniimo Pass.
Steam players have a similar step. Pawprint says a Steam login prompts you to link an Aniimo Pass email account. If you skip it there, you can still link later from the in-game "Email Link" page. The one-shot restriction applies to the console prompt only.
Xbox Cloud Gaming Offers a Second Way to Play Aniimo on a Phone
The native iOS and Android apps are not the only way to play on a phone. Pawprint's launch guidance says Aniimo supports Xbox Cloud Gaming. You sign in with a Microsoft account on Xbox's cloud gaming service and stream the game to phones, tablets, PCs, Xbox consoles and other supported devices. Pawprint notes that cloud playtime depends on your Microsoft account status and that streaming needs a fast, stable internet connection.
The two options suit different players. The native app runs the game on the phone itself, and Notebookcheck reports it needs an iPhone 11 or newer running iOS 16, with Android storage requirements in the same range. The cloud stream runs on Microsoft's servers, so the phone's own hardware matters less and your network matters more. Because a cloud session uses your Microsoft account, it should use the same linked save as your Xbox. Our inference is that this makes it a sensible fallback for older phones that can't run the native client, as long as the Microsoft account was linked correctly the first time.
Aniimo on Windows PC: Requirements and Known Launcher Problems
On PC, Aniimo is available through Steam, the Epic Games Store and Pawprint's own launcher from aniimo.com. Steam lists these minimum requirements: 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 5600, DirectX 11 and 40 GB of storage. The recommended spec is an Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 6700. Pawprint recommends installing on an SSD. It says Windows 7, Windows 8 and any 32-bit system cannot run the game. Console pre-downloads needed 30–35 GB free, and on PS5 the game can only be installed on the internal SSD.
Pawprint's own troubleshooting FAQ lists several problems PC players are likely to hit:
- A "Failed to load il2cpp" error is usually an antivirus false positive. Pawprint's fix is to restore the quarantined files from your antivirus, add them to its trust list and restart the game.
- A white screen with no logo after launch points to DirectX 11. Pawprint tells affected users to install DirectX 11 from Microsoft and restart the game.
- File-verification errors, freezes on loading and black screens after an update can be fixed with the launcher's "Quick Repair" option, found in Settings at the top right. If that fails, reinstall the launcher.
- Login errors can come from an install path containing non-English or non-alphabetic characters. Pawprint recommends moving the game to a folder path in plain English letters.
- A launcher window larger than the screen comes from display scaling. At 1080p, Pawprint says scaling should not exceed 125%.
Pawprint also blames crashes, freezes, graphical glitches and out-of-VRAM errors on 13th- and 14th-generation Intel Core processors on the known degradation defect in those chips, and points players to Intel's July 2024 statement on the issue and its own fix page. That is the developer's diagnosis, not an independent finding. Still, if a Raptor Lake PC crashes in Aniimo, check the Intel microcode and BIOS status first.
Aniimo's Free-to-Play Numbers and the Money Behind Them
The launch figures look strong, with caveats about where each one comes from. FunPlus says the game has enjoyed a strong first week across PC and console, notably remaining within the Top 10 Steam top sellers worldwide. A free game makes that list because Steam's top-seller chart counts in-game purchases. iPhone in Canada reports that third-party trackers recorded a Steam peak of more than 130,000 concurrent players. That count covers Steam only. It excludes the Epic Games Store, Pawprint's own launcher, consoles and now mobile.
Player opinion is more mixed. Steam's current listing shows 74% of 8,227 English-language user reviews as positive, rated "Mostly Positive". iPhone in Canada describes early reviews as considerably more negative, with complaints aimed at monetization, and praise mostly for the art style and combat. That criticism reflects player reviews, not an audit of the game's economy.
Pawprint's own documents show how the money works. Console pre-order packs cost $9.99 for an Advanced Edition (an exclusive accessory plus the Premium Pass) and $19.99 for a Collector's Edition (an accessory plus the Collector's Pass). Prices vary by region. Only one paid battle-pass tier can be active per game version. Extra redemption items carry over to later versions and never expire, but upgrading from Advanced to Collector's during a version costs money. The premium currency, Lumin Crystals, can be bought through the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store, the in-game shop or Pawprint's web store. The web store offers extra bonuses once you link an email. Pawprint's publicity also points to free rewards: MMOHuts notes that reaching Grade I Wayfarer lets players choose one rare Prismana Form Aniimo, while Aniilog collection milestones unlock accessories. Global pre-registrations passed 40 million, according to Pawprint. That figure counts sign-ups, not active players.
What This Means for Xbox, PC and Mobile Players
If you already have an Aniimo character on PC or Xbox, the job is to connect the right accounts in the right order before you install the phone app or start the game on a new console. If you're new, you can start on whichever device you like, but pick your server carefully because that choice decides where your progress can follow you.
- Sign in on iOS or Android with the same Aniimo Pass account and the same server as your existing character. Progress, resources and party lineup sync only under those conditions.
- Accept the account-link pop-up the first time you launch on Xbox or PS5. Pawprint says skipping it permanently creates a separate account for that Microsoft or PSN login.
- PS5 players should check that their PSN region's server matches their existing character's server before linking, because the PS5 server is set by region and there is no cross-server sharing.
- Xbox Cloud Gaming lets you play on a phone or tablet without the native app. Playtime depends on your Microsoft account status and you need a fast, stable connection.
- On Windows, make sure you have 64-bit Windows 10 or later and 40 GB free on an SSD. Use the launcher's Quick Repair for file errors, and check antivirus quarantine if you see "Failed to load il2cpp".
- Treat the reported Steam player peak and the review score as Steam-only snapshots, not measures of the whole cross-platform audience.
The mobile launch completes Aniimo's platform lineup, and on paper Xbox, Windows PC, iPhone and Android now share one save. In practice that works only when a player sticks to one server and accepts a console link prompt that can't be revisited, and those rules have caused more account problems at launch than any hardware limit. Players who get the linking right can move between an Xbox, a Windows PC and a phone without losing progress.
