A laptop displaying a neon-lit mountain scene sits beside a glowing AI chip and digital brain sculpture.
Asus’s 2026 Vivobook 16 Ryzen Edition has appeared in China with an AMD Ryzen 7 H 260 processor, a 16-inch 2.5K 144Hz display and 16GB of LPDDR5 memory. Gizmochina and Technetbook report a JD.com listing priced at 5,999 yuan, while IT Home corroborates the processor, memory, 512GB SSD and Chinese-market price. This is a China-market product announcement—not confirmation of a US release.

The configuration deserves attention, but its AI claims need careful interpretation. Microsoft’s documented requirements provide an important distinction: combined processor AI throughput is not the same thing as the NPU performance required for Copilot+ PC experiences.

The core configuration

Technetbook describes a single 16GB/512GB configuration, with an eight-core, 16-thread processor operating at up to 45W. Its reported specifications include:

ComponentReported specification
ProcessorAMD Ryzen 7 H 260
Memory16GB LPDDR5
Storage512GB PCIe SSD
Display16-inch, 2.5K, up to 144Hz, 100% sRGB
Battery70Wh
ChassisAll-metal, 15.9mm thick, 1.69kg
InputFull-size backlit keyboard and 7.1-inch touchpad

IT Home independently reports the same headline hardware, dimensions and battery capacity. These are launch specifications, however, rather than measured performance or endurance results.

Gizmochina adds Zen 4 architecture, a boost clock of up to 5.1GHz and integrated Radeon 780M graphics with AV1 hardware encoding. Those details remain attributed specifications here, not findings from a hands-on review.

A display upgrade, with storage room to grow

Gizmochina reports 400-nit peak brightness, refresh-rate variation down to 30Hz and a black-and-white reading mode. It also describes two M.2 SSD slots supporting a total of 4TB through two 2TB drives. Neither publication establishes a RAM-upgrade path, so buyers should not assume that storage expansion means expandable memory.

The practical distinction is worth preserving: additional SSD capacity addresses file storage, not the amount of memory available to applications. Anyone considering this configuration for memory-heavy work should request explicit upgrade documentation before treating 16GB as merely a starting point.

Ryzen AI does not establish Copilot+ eligibility

Gizmochina attributes a claim of up to 38 TOPS across the CPU, GPU and NPU combined to Asus. It also reports an infrared camera for Windows Hello and support for Windows Studio Effects, including background blur and automatic framing.

Microsoft Learn specifies a 40+ TOPS NPU for many Copilot+ PC AI features. That requirement concerns the dedicated neural processor—not a total assembled from several processing engines. Consequently, the reported 38-TOPS combined figure does not establish eligibility for those experiences. Buyers should not read “Ryzen AI” as a promise of the complete Copilot+ feature set.

That is the useful Windows takeaway: the AI label needs a hardware qualification, not just an enthusiastic font.

Connectivity and availability caveats

Technetbook lists two full-function USB-C ports, two USB-A ports and HDMI 2.1. Gizmochina specifies USB-C display output and Power Delivery, HDMI 2.1 TMDS, a 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C charging at 5V–20V. Its report does not establish a charger wattage or universal power-bank compatibility.

For US readers, keep the 5,999-yuan reported listing price separate from any prospective American price. Technetbook says international release details have not been confirmed; the announcement therefore provides no basis for a US MSRP or release schedule.

The bottom line is a clearly specified China-market laptop, not yet a demonstrated value winner. Neither launch report supplies independent battery, thermal or gaming tests. The screen, storage options and Windows-facing features make it worth following—but a specification sheet is the opening argument, not the verdict.
