An infographic warns licensed PC games may leave digital stores by December 2026, with a calendar marking the deadline.
Four licensed games are set to leave digital storefronts at the end of December 2026: Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance, Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard, Street Outlaws: The List and Street Outlaws 2: Winner Takes All. The Steam notices are confirmed. Xbox removal is widely reported but isn't spelled out in those notices. Pure Xbox's report grouped all four under one publisher, and that part needs correcting.

An infographic warns licensed PC games may leave digital stores by December 2026, with a calendar marking the deadline. Who is delisting what

GameMill Entertainment and Outright Games announced on Steam that they are removing Avatar: Quest for Balance and Hotel Transylvania 3 from the digital storefront, and likely the Microsoft Store too. That makes two publishers, not one:

  • GameMill Entertainment: Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance, Street Outlaws: The List and Street Outlaws 2: Winner Takes All.
  • Outright Games: Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard.

The reason is the same for all four. The posts use the same wording and say the licensing agreements for the titles have concluded.

GameMill's Steam notice for The List, dated October 29, gives "the end of December 2026" as the timeframe. It says owners have nothing to worry about. The game stays in their library and remains fully playable. The notices don't give an exact final day. Some outlets say December 31, including a PlayStation-focused roundup and CBR. Treat that as likely, not as a publisher-confirmed date.

What is confirmed for Xbox, and what isn't

The notices name Steam only. Pure Xbox says as much: the announcement was shared on Steam and only mentions Steam, but GameMill's past practice usually led to delistings on multiple platforms including Xbox.

TrueAchievements makes the same point about both publishers. They are delisting from Steam "and most likely Xbox." The outlet also notes that these publishers rarely mention console removals in their announcements, even though console removals almost always follow. It cites earlier cases, including Goosebumps: The Game.

Coverage splits on how certain Xbox removal is:

  • Street Outlaws. Pure Xbox's November roundup states flatly that both games will disappear off the Xbox Store at the end of December 2026. CBR says the expiring license forces removal across all platforms, including Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. TrueAchievements was more careful, saying it was "not confirmed for Xbox" when it first covered the story.
  • Hotel Transylvania 3. Kantan.news reports removal from Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch stores at the end of December 2026.
  • Avatar. A PlayStation-focused roundup lists the game as delisted on December 31 for PS5 and PS4. I found no separate Xbox-specific notice for it.

The practical reading is that Xbox removal of all four is very likely. A publisher-issued Xbox notice for each title hasn't surfaced, though. Check the Xbox Store listing directly if the date matters to you.

What delisting means for owners

A delisting is not a server shutdown. As Games.gg puts it, delisting does not necessarily mean servers shut down or that existing owners immediately lose access. What changes is that new digital purchases stop.

For Steam owners, the publishers are explicit that the games stay in the library and remain playable. That promise covers Steam. Kantan.news says owners of Hotel Transylvania 3 can keep downloading it after removal, but that report covers multiple platforms and rests on a secondary source. Xbox owners in practice usually keep re-download access to purchased titles, but I couldn't find an Xbox-specific statement for these four. The safest course is to buy before the cutoff if you want a guaranteed digital copy.

If you'd rather own a disc

  • Hotel Transylvania 3 and Avatar: Quest for Balance both got physical releases, and both support Disc to Digital.
  • TrueAchievements reports that both Street Outlaws games can be bought physically on Xbox.
  • Physical stock varies by region and seller, so availability isn't guaranteed.

About the discounts

Pure Xbox says Street Outlaws 1 and 2 have already been reduced by 90% on Steam, and it speculates that Xbox may follow. GG.deals' price tracker, which is a snapshot that may have changed, showed Steam prices of $1.99 for The List and $2.49 for the sequel. Both were listed with limited time left on those offers. Nothing I found verifies an Xbox discount. Treat any Xbox sale as a guess and check the Xbox Store for current prices.

Why this matters

Licensed games tied to TV and film franchises have a built-in expiry date. When the license lapses, storefronts lose the game whether or not anyone is still playing it. These four titles are a small example of why digital ownership is really a license to access content. The retailer's catalog decisions and the rights-holders' contracts both shape how long you can get it.

If one of these games is on your wishlist:

  1. Check the Xbox Store listing before the end of December 2026.
  2. Decide between a digital purchase and a disc.
  3. Don't count on an Xbox discount arriving.

Existing owners have no action to take beyond keeping their games installed or re-downloadable.
