Animated Avatar characters battle with elemental powers on a video-call interface as spectators watch.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game’s Patch 3.0 adds a substantial online feature upgrade for PC players: Open Lobbies with spectating and live playback controls. Ozai’s rework shares the spotlight, but the ability to host, watch and moderate community sessions may be the update’s most useful long-term addition. The official Steam announcement appeared on October 7, 2026—not October 13, when NickALive! published its coverage.

NickALive! reports that the update is live on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with Nintendo Switch following later. That Switch timing remains an attributed rollout report, not a confirmed release deadline.

Animated Avatar characters battle with elemental powers on a video-call interface as spectators watch. Open Lobbies: more room, fewer spectators left outside

Paramount Games’ patch notes describe rooms accommodating 2–16 players, with public access or private entry through invitations and codes. Hosts can select 60-second or unlimited rounds, first-to-1 through first-to-10 sets, or unlimited rematches. Joining a full game session lets another lobby member spectate, with rewind and fast-forward controls for match playback.

The official Steam announcement also confirms player profiles, friend requests and host controls to kick or ban participants. For a community practice night, those tools mean less coordination outside the game—and a little more control when somebody mistakes “friendly sets” for a license to misbehave.

There are important limits. Lobby queues and winner-stays-on settings are planned, not shipped. Codes support cross-platform lobby joining, but the notes do not enumerate compatible platform pairings. Streamers can hide their displayed lobby code.

For organizers, the practical takeaway is straightforward: use private codes for a controlled session, hide the code when broadcasting, and plan player rotation manually until queue management arrives.

Connection fixes deserve attention, too

The Steam announcement identifies a fix for poor-quality relay connections in lobbies, alongside projectile Flow-reaction and throw-behavior corrections. It also confirms that the Flow-regeneration adjustment affects Kyoshi and Ozai specifically, rather than the entire roster.

That is useful scope information, but not proof that every online connection will improve. The announcement supplies no before-and-after latency measurements. Treat the relay change as a targeted fix, not a universal cure for troubled matches.

Ozai changes warrant a fresh practice session

Ozai receives updated animation, extensive move tuning and three new Critical Hits. Zuko and Katara gain revised Final Technique animations, while Azula’s effects and victory poses receive adjustments. Ba Sing Se also gains background appearances from the Freedom Fighters, Bosco and the King.

Two examples show why returning Ozai players should revisit their timing: 2A starts in six frames with Sozin support and seven with other supports, while 2B starts one frame faster and gains horizontal reach. Paramount also adds Ozai tutorials and trials, replacing some older trials.

There is a useful companion tool already available: Steam’s product description lists Training Mode hitbox displays, frame data and save states. Rather than assuming an old sequence still behaves identically, use those tools to examine it again. This is practical advice based on the documented training features, not a claim of firsthand testing.

Story Mode lowers the initial hurdle

The first seven story fights now prevent player KOs, restore health automatically and restrict CPU throws and combos. Difficulty increases with progression, while instructional popups provide move guidance. Story challenges are temporarily removed for reworking—not permanently abandoned.

The trade-off is clear: a gentler introduction, with some challenge content unavailable in the meantime.

A Windows compatibility wrinkle

Steam’s requirements section still lists 64-bit Windows 7, but the same page states that the Steam client supports Windows 10 and later beginning January 1, 2024. That older game requirement should therefore not be read as a supported Windows 7 Steam setup.

For Windows players, Patch 3.0’s strongest contribution is the social infrastructure around the fighting: larger rooms, spectating, moderation and a targeted connection fix. The new lobby system is useful now; automated player rotation remains unfinished business.
