What was actually shown
The modder published a proof-of-concept video showing Bloodborne running with RTX Remix in Hunter's Dream, Iosefka's Clinic and Central Yharnam. The footage also compares NVIDIA's Neural Rendering, also called DLSS 5, switched on and off. The video description says the graphics toggling in the video is NR on/off.
The game runs through the shadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator, which has made it possible to run the game on PC. This is not a port. It is also not official support from Sony, FromSoftware, NVIDIA or the shadPS4 project, and none of the coverage claims any such endorsement.
Why this is technically odd
RTX Remix targets old games with fixed-function graphics pipelines, and Bloodborne does not use one. NVIDIA's compatibility documentation says RTX Remix is designed for DirectX 8 and 9 games that use a fixed function pipeline (this is from NVIDIA's docs, which I'm describing from the supplied material). The docs explain that Remix captures what the game sends to the GPU, rebuilds the scene and applies path tracing. Shader-based games let the game send data in almost any format, so Remix struggles to rebuild their scenes. NVIDIA's guidance also says games released after 2010 are generally not compatible unless they have been modified.
The usual workaround is to force the whole renderer through DirectX 9 fixed-function. gabdeg's description of his method is that this would lead to a whole slew of issues and that a draw-call-heavy game like Bloodborne would likely never run at playable frame rates.
His alternative is a hybrid:
- Static environment geometry is converted into RTX Remix's native format.
- Dynamic geometry, such as moving objects and characters, is streamed directly from the game running in shadPS4.
The idea is that Remix handles the fixed scenery, which it is good at relighting. The emulator keeps supplying the parts that change every frame. This is the developer's own account, and the available reporting contains no independent performance measurements.
What DLSS 5 means here
DLSS 5 is not the familiar upscaler. NVIDIA research describes it as a real-time generative rendering stage. That quote is from NVIDIA's own description in the supplied material. It is conditioned on the rendered frame and engine motion vectors. NVIDIA says it runs locally within game pipelines on GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs.
Those are NVIDIA's published requirements for the technology. They do not tell us what hardware gabdeg used, and I won't guess at that.
What this is not
- Not a release. gabdeg says this is not a project announcement and that any releasable version would be a long way off. Many issues remain.
- Not a polished result. Wccftech called it a very rough implementation, with room for improvement in parts of Central Yharnam. Other sections looked transformative to its writer. That is one outlet's visual judgment, not a benchmark.
- Not a performance claim. None of the verified sources gives frame rates or system specs for this demo. One Spanish-language site, Foro3D, reports 90 FPS and credits a contributor called Supermedo. I could not corroborate that, so treat it as unverified.
- Not the only Bloodborne PC project. VideoCardz notes a separate effort called "Bloodborne PC," described as supporting DLSS, FSR and an unlocked frame rate. Wccftech describes it as a project built on the emulator that cuts CPU overhead and adds in-game graphics settings. Its features should not be attributed to gabdeg's demo.
Why PC users should care
The practical takeaway is not "go download this." It is that the technique may widen RTX Remix's reach. If static and dynamic geometry can be split this way, shader-heavy games that were off-limits might become candidates. VideoCardz floats that possibility, but no second game using the method has been named. Treat it as speculation until someone else reproduces it.
It also shows how much of PC graphics modding now sits on layered tools: an emulator, a capture-and-relight runtime and a neural rendering stage. Each has its own hardware and compatibility rules. Emulators like shadPS4 also don't include games, so you would need your own copy of Bloodborne.
For now, the demo is a notable experiment and nothing more. The game stays a PS4 title, and there is no download or release schedule.
