The important distinction: this is a hardware teaser, not a fully detailed product launch. There is enough here to identify the board’s general layout—but not enough to judge its performance or value.
What the preview reveals
IT Home’s October 8, 2026 coverage corroborates the principal physical features, identifying the AM5 platform from the processor socket and surrounding cooler-mounting hardware. Its description of Colorful’s teaser includes:
- An ATX layout with four memory slots.
- Two metal-reinforced PCIe slots.
- Two 8-pin EPS CPU power connectors at the upper-left edge.
- A quick-release structure behind the primary PCIe slot.
- A numerical diagnostic display.
Technetbook describes that display as a two-digit diagnostic LED and says the graphics-card release feature is intended to simplify card removal. Neither report provides operating instructions or a diagnostic-code table. Those details will need a model-specific manual, not guesswork based on a photograph.
Ultra branding is not a specification sheet
There is a useful comparison in Colorful’s own product announcements. On May 20, 2026, the company detailed the iGame B850M ULTRA-S and B850M ULTRA-OC, both micro-ATX models—not this teased ATX board.
Those two boards demonstrate why family branding cannot substitute for specifications. Colorful lists three M.2 slots and 2.5Gb Ethernet for the ULTRA-S, versus four M.2 slots and 5Gb Ethernet for the ULTRA-OC. It also describes the latter as using a dual-DIMM layout. Even within one Ultra announcement, storage, networking and memory arrangements differ.
None of those specifications should be transferred to the new board. In particular, the earlier products do not establish that this ATX model uses B850, offers the same networking, or shares their advertised memory speeds. A family resemblance is not a technical inheritance.
What AM5 builders should wait for
AMD’s official AM5 chipset information supplies another important compatibility caveat: Ryzen 8000 and 9000 processors may require a BIOS update on 600-series motherboards. That does not establish a requirement for Colorful’s unnamed board, whose chipset remains undisclosed; it illustrates why socket identification alone is not a complete CPU-compatibility check.
Before planning a build around this model, look for:
- The exact model, chipset and CPU-support list, including any minimum BIOS version.
- Memory capacity and validated configurations, rather than relying on the visible slot count.
- PCIe generation, electrical lane widths and lane-sharing rules.
- Storage, USB and networking specifications.
- Regional pricing, availability and warranty terms.
These are purchasing checkpoints, not claims about features the teaser has confirmed.
The takeaway
Colorful’s preview establishes a recognisable AM5 ATX design with reinforced expansion slots, a diagnostic display and a graphics-card release feature. The published coverage does not establish the complete hardware specification or retail price.
For now, it belongs on an AM5 builder’s watchlist—not a final parts list. The layout provides the opening chapter; the specification sheet still has to tell the rest of the story.
