What Colorful announced
Colorful describes the board as a new iGame X870E ULTRA-S V14 motherboard, demonstrated with 192GB of DDR5 at 6600 MT/s and CL28 timings. It belongs to the iGame Ultra family and uses a black, graffiti-and-dot-matrix look. Colorful's suggested retail price is CNY 1,899, which the company says is roughly USD 265. It also warns that pricing and availability vary by region.
Chinese-language reporting supplies the market status. IT Home reported on October 19 that the board was listed on JD.com at 1,899 yuan. Sina's tech desk (Kuai Technology) described the same day as the start of presale on e-commerce platforms. Tom's Hardware Italia, citing VideoCardz, says Colorful plans to launch in China ahead of the November 11 shopping event. It adds that international pricing and availability have not been announced. The dollar figure is therefore only a currency conversion, not a US price.

Colorful says the power design suits high-end AM5 chips, including the dual-CCD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. That is a positioning claim. The announcement gives no temperatures, VRM load data or overclocking headroom to back it up.
The board also has a separate clock generator for adjusting the CPU base clock. Colorful presents this as finer tuning control than multiplier-only overclocking. No quantified benefit is offered.
The memory claim, read carefully
The memory numbers are the easiest to misread, because they describe three different things:
- 256GB is the board's stated maximum capacity.
- 192GB at 6600 MT/s CL28 is a specific configuration Colorful demonstrated, using four 48GB modules.
- DDR5-8400 (OC) is the top overclocked data rate in the specification list.
Colorful says the 192GB setup passed an extended RunMemTestPro stability run. Tom's Hardware Italia reports it as four 48GB modules alongside an AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Sina's report calls it an official Colorful test. These are company-supplied results, not independent testing.
The Colorful announcement doesn't name the test CPU. Digital Citizen and Tom's Hardware Italia both name the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, so treat that as secondary reporting. Pause Hardware says the kit was four 48GB modules from the iGame Shadow II DDR5 6000 CL30 line. Pause Hardware is a secondary source, so confirm that detail with Colorful before relying on it.
Digital Citizen puts the limit plainly: Colorful has not established that the board can run four 48GB modules at 8400 MT/s. Guru3D adds that results depend on the memory kit, the processor's memory controller, the BIOS version and the number of modules installed.
In practice, four-DIMM DDR5 on AM5 is usually harder to run fast than two DIMMs. Memory-controller load is higher, which VideoCardz notes as well. A builder planning 192GB should treat 6600 CL28 as a best-case demonstration and expect to tune and validate their own kit. Two-module setups are the easier route to high speeds.
Storage and USB4: the questions the spec sheet leaves open
Five M.2 slots, with three at PCIe 5.0 x4, is generous for an ATX board. Colorful doesn't say how lanes are shared. It doesn't say whether populating all five slots, the PCIe 4.0 x4 slot or SATA ports reduces bandwidth elsewhere. Check the manual for slot-sharing rules before planning a multi-SSD build.
IT Home also mentions a few features that aren't in the supplied specification list: a two-digit debug display, an EZ Debug indicator, a quick-release mechanism for the graphics card and global RGB control. The same report cites F.C.C. ferrite inductors and 10K black solid capacitors. Treat these as IT Home's reporting on the China-market listing, not as confirmed global specifications.
The two USB4 40Gbps ports are a practical advantage for fast external SSDs and docks. Colorful says they support 4K display output. It doesn't give resolution or refresh-rate conditions for HDMI or DisplayPort.
X3D tuning mode
Colorful names its tuning feature "X3D AI High Frame Mode" in one heading and "X3D AI Turbo Mode" in the body. The announcement treats them as one feature, so the naming looks like a copy inconsistency, but it isn't confirmed. Colorful says the mode automatically adjusts PBO, temperature and power limits, and voltage settings for Ryzen 9000 X3D chips. It claims better gaming performance, fewer FPS drops and preserved multi-core performance. No games, methodology or numbers are provided, so it's a manufacturer claim.
Sina describes the mode as needing no manual tuning from the user. Anyone who has hand-tuned Curve Optimizer on an X3D chip knows the appeal, and also that automated undervolting can bring stability trade-offs. Independent testing will tell.
Who should care
- X3D gamers who want a flagship-style AM5 board at a mid-range price. CNY 1,899 is the China price, and the board isn't confirmed outside China.
- Builders who want lots of NVMe storage. The five-slot layout is attractive, but lane-sharing details matter.
- High-capacity memory users. The 192GB demonstration is encouraging, but it was performed by the vendor on one setup.
Bottom line
The board is well specified on paper. It has a 16+2+1 power stage, three Gen5 M.2 slots, dual USB4, Wi-Fi 7 and 5GbE. Colorful's headline 192GB result is a vendor-run demonstration, and DDR5-8400 is an overclocking ceiling. Neither is a guarantee. No US launch date or price has been announced, and independent reviews haven't appeared yet. Wait for those, along with BIOS maturity and memory-compatibility lists, before treating the memory claims as buying criteria.
