What the original spec sheet said
The September table stood out because the two tiers were so far apart. The minimum tier was modest on memory: 8 GB of RAM, 64-bit Windows 11, an Intel Core i5-14400 or AMD Ryzen 5 4500, an RTX 2060 or RX 6600, DirectX 12 and 40 GB of free storage.
The recommended tier was the surprise. It asked for 32 GB of system memory, an Intel Core i7-14700 or Ryzen 7 7700, and a GeForce RTX 4070 or Radeon RX 7700 XT. Players noticed that this was heavy for a visual novel, particularly one that also ships on Nintendo Switch.
What the revised table says
On October 22, Spike Chunsoft's English-language account posted that the PC specs had been updated, with a joke about not needing to buy "one billion RAM." The revised table, which the official page marks as updated on October 22, 2026, has three columns:
| Tier | CPU | RAM | GPU (NVIDIA / AMD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum (Full HD) | Core i5-10500 or Ryzen 5 2600X | 8 GB | GTX 1660 / RX 5600 XT |
| Recommended (Full HD) | Same | 8 GB | RTX 2060 / RX 6600 |
| Recommended (4K) | Same | 8 GB | RTX 3060 / RX 6600 XT |
The other requirements are the same across all three tiers. They are Windows 11 64-bit and DirectX 12. Storage is 30 GB of free space with an SSD recommended, and 40 GB if the Digital Deluxe app is also installed.
The big changes are:
- RAM: The recommended figure fell from 32 GB to 8 GB. Minimum RAM was already 8 GB, so that tier did not change.
- CPU: The recommended processor dropped from a Core i7-14700 or Ryzen 7 7700 to a Core i5-10500 or Ryzen 5 2600X.
- GPU: The recommended card dropped from an RTX 4070 or RX 7700 XT to an RTX 2060 or RX 6600 for Full HD. The 4K target is an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT.
- Storage: The file size requirement fell from 40 GB to 30 GB.
Why the numbers were so high
The developer has not called the original figures a mistake. AUTOMATON West reports that after fans expressed shock, producer Shohei Sakakibara said the specs were set with "4K high-quality settings in mind" and promised an update. Other outlets echoed this explanation. Some described the earlier table as erroneous, but that is those outlets' wording, not a developer admission.
This matters when you read the story. The criticism of "poor optimization" came from players. Nothing in the reporting shows that the company changed the game's code or improved performance. All we know is that the published requirements changed. Possible explanations include a mislabeled test configuration or a 4K-ultra target presented as the general recommendation. That is speculation, and the company has not said which it was.
What PC owners should take from it
- You do not need 32 GB of RAM. The published spec is 8 GB for every tier.
- Full HD players have two separate targets. The GTX 1660 or RX 5600 XT is the minimum. The RTX 2060 or RX 6600 is the recommended card for Full HD.
- 4K players need a step up. The listed 4K target is an RTX 3060 or RX 6600 XT.
- Windows 10 is not listed. Both the minimum and recommended tiers say Windows 11 64-bit.
- Plan for storage. Reserve 30 GB, or 40 GB if you will install the Digital Deluxe app. Use an SSD.
The official page includes its own caveat. The listed specs are an example, and actual performance may vary by user environment. These are publisher-stated targets. They are not benchmarks, and nobody has independently verified frame rates on the listed hardware. The developer's site says PC supports 1280×720 to 3840×2160 and 60 fps with the recommended specs.
The confusion between old and new tables
Older articles are still online and still carry the 32 GB figure. Some are the September reports. One retained article, for instance, still describes a recommended tier of 32 GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 4070. If you are checking your PC, rely on the October 22 table. Steam's listing shows the same revised minimum and recommended hardware.
Steam shows a January 13, 2027 release date, while the developer's site and most press coverage say January 14. That may be a time-zone difference, but neither source explains it, so check your region's listing closer to launch. The game also launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Switch 2.
The broader lesson
Requirement sheets are marketing documents as much as technical ones. Publishers often write them months before release, and they do not always say which quality settings the recommended tier assumes. A 32 GB figure on a visual novel was a reasonable cause for suspicion. The fast correction is a good outcome for players with older hardware. Real performance will be settled by testing at launch, not by the spec sheet.
