The roadmap metadata marks the feature Launched, listing July 2026 preview and September 2026 general availability. Those dates describe the roadmap record—not proof that every register has the required version and configuration. Microsoft also cautions that roadmap release information is estimated and subject to change.
What associates can update
Microsoft Learn documents multiselect in Commerce 10.0.49 and later. Supported actions cover voiding, shipping, pickup, carryout, percentage or amount line discounts, and comments. Selected lines also support button-grid void, discount, and price-override operations.
The roadmap additionally describes touch, keyboard, and mouse interaction, plus partner-added bulk actions. Its fulfillment-location and extensibility claims are broader than the documented multiselect instructions; they should not be treated as a complete configuration specification.
Enable it for the right layouts
Microsoft’s prerequisite is the modernized transaction grid. Enable Enable Modern Transaction Grid in POS Transaction View in headquarters Feature management, set Modern transaction grid to Yes in the relevant POS visual profile, run Registers (1090), and restart Store Commerce.
Then configure multiselect:
- Navigate to Retail and Commerce > Channel setup > POS setup > POS > Screen layouts.
- Open the layout in Screen Layout Designer.
- Open the transaction grid’s customization dialog.
- Under Lines, enable Show transaction line multiselect.
- Save and run Channel configuration (1090).
Notice the different distribution-job labels for the base grid and layout configuration.
Bulk selection still checks each line
On the transaction page, choose Multi select, mark lines, open Actions, and choose an operation. Enter required values once. Eligible lines update; ineligible lines are skipped, with issues consolidated into a summary.
That last detail deserves a place in cashier training. The sensible completion check is not simply “the action ran,” but “the intended lines changed, and any exceptions were reviewed.” Bulk editing is a shortcut, not a steamroller.
Delivery changes also need careful terminology. Microsoft’s separate Change mode of delivery operation applies to shipment-configured lines and offers only delivery modes valid across all selected products and addresses. Incompatible combinations may require individual updates. Switching between shipping, pickup, and carryout uses the corresponding fulfillment operations instead. This is background on the existing operation—not confirmation that every new multiselect action behaves identically.
A practical rollout check
For administrators, a useful pilot should test both successful updates and exceptions:
- Try a small, eligible selection before a large cart.
- Review the resulting lines and any summary message.
- If Multi select is absent, retrace the version, base-grid, layout, and distribution prerequisites.
- Include a mixed-eligibility scenario in associate training.
The operational promise is straightforward: fewer repeated commands. Whether that translates into meaningful time savings should be measured in the retailer’s own workflow, rather than assumed from the launch description.
