What changes—and what does not
The combined transaction starts only from product-receipt posting, using automatic consumption or Consume immediately. Microsoft also specifies duplicate-posting protection and unchanged batch, cancellation, and correction behavior. The deployment scope is Project Operations integrated with ERP and Project Operations for manufacturing, not every Project Operations configuration.
The practical distinction is consistency, not simply fewer clicks. For procurement and project-finance teams, preventing a half-completed operation is more useful than discovering the mismatch during reconciliation.
Configuration matters
Microsoft documents preview support in version 10.0.49, disabled by default. Administrators enable Post product receipt and packing slip for item requirements in a single scope in Feature management; it can also be disabled there.
Automatic posting requires enabled project-accounting consumption and Create item requirement from purchase order settings. For manufacturing deployments, disabled automatic consumption still permits immediate manual consumption; enabled consumption suppresses the prompt. Unified posting applies when both operations can post together.
That distinction matters when evaluating the feature: automatic consumption is not a prerequisite for the documented manual manufacturing workflow.
Preview dates are not launch confirmation
Microsoft’s roadmap record for 574123 lists In development, September 2026 preview, and March 2027 general availability, targeting Web and Worldwide Standard Multi-Tenant environments. These are planning details, not proof of deployment.
Microsoft Learn lists September 2026 preview but no GA date. Neither source establishes actual customer availability as of October 13, 2026; Microsoft explicitly warns that roadmap dates can change. Administrators should therefore distinguish the documented version and feature flag from a confirmed rollout before scheduling adoption.
