An armored warrior surveys a vast army advancing on a fiery, ancient fortress beneath a stormy sky.
Two decades on, Lu Bu is back for Dynasty Warriors 3's remaster, and he's bringing a 1,000 Gamerscore list that will keep completionists busy for a long time. TrueAchievements has published the Xbox achievement list for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered the day before launch. The list has 44 achievements worth 1,000G, and eight of them are hidden. TrueAchievements staff writer Sean Lawson called it "a tough outing." The list backs him up, though a big to-do list isn't quite the same thing as a hard one.

Launch details

The game had a rough road to release. KOEI TECMO first set it for March 19, 2026. In late January, TrueAchievements reported that the publisher had delayed it indefinitely and would announce a new date later. The new date came in early June. KOEI TECMO America and developer Omega Force announced that the game would be released worldwide Oct. 1, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.

The platform list has changed since then. KOEI TECMO America's official site says the October 1 release will be changing the release platforms as follows: PlayStation®5/Nintendo Switch™ 2/XBOX Series X|S/Steam®. The original Switch version is no longer on that list. Xbox and PC players are unaffected.

What's in the package:

  • Content: all content from the original DYNASTY WARRIORS 3 game and DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Xtreme Legends expansion, plus new features and scenarios.
  • Roster: Over 40 officers from the original roster will make their return in this remaster, alongside DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS protagonist Ziluan.
  • New mechanics: True Musou Attacks and two-player co-op make a return, and there's a new Evasion move.
  • Engine: Nintendo Life reports the remaster is running on Unreal Engine 5.
  • Price and demo: The Outerhaven's review lists the price as $39.99 and says the demo can be downloaded right now.
  • Game Pass: TrueAchievements' game page says the game isn't on Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass. Plan to buy it.

In short: it's a 2001 classic plus its expansion, rebuilt for Xbox Series X|S and PC, arriving October 1 after a seven-month slip.

Where the 1,000G goes

The 150G "Dynasty Warrior" achievement for unlocking everything else is the cap on the list. Below it, the work falls into a few groups.

Musou Mode for every officer

This is the biggest single job. There are "Begins" achievements (10G each) and "Conquered" achievements (30G each) for Wei, Wu, Shu, and "Another," which covers officers outside the three kingdoms. "Three Kingdoms Conquered" (70G) requires clearing Musou Mode with every officer. With a roster of more than 40, that's a lot of Hulao Gate.

Collecting everything

  • Weapon Enthusiast (70G): get every weapon. Lawson warns that some weapons need very specific objectives in certain missions, and he expects most players will want a guide.
  • Collector of Fine Wares (70G): get every item.
  • Smaller milestones: first Weapon Fusion, first Fourth Weapon, first Fifth Weapon (10G each).
  • Horse and Rider as One (10G): ride every horse and elephant.

Combat counters

Most of these will come with normal play:

  • 1,000 kills in one battle, 10,000 total, and 1,000 with Musou Attacks
  • 10 PERFECT Combo Ratings
  • Raise allied morale 100 times
  • Defeat an enemy supreme commander with a bow attack
  • Raise one officer's Merit to 99,999, and max out a Regular Bodyguard's Merit

Difficulty and Challenge Mode

"Guardian Deity" (30G) asks for 10 wins on Hard or higher with every comrade except you still alive. If you've played a Musou game, you know how quickly AI allies tend to die, so this one needs attention.

Six more 10G achievements each ask for a new first-place record in one Challenge Mode: Endurance, Time Attack, Rush, Meteor, Assault, and Unification. These look like local leaderboard records, so the pressure is your own best score. The descriptions don't give target scores.

There are also 10G achievements for clearing any Free Mode scenario, any Challenge Mode course, and any Side Story. Clearing all Side Stories is worth 30G.

In short: most of the 1,000G comes from completing everything, not from mechanical skill. The exceptions are Guardian Deity, the Challenge Mode records, and the hidden achievements below.

The hidden achievements

In TrueAchievements' news article, all eight hidden entries show only "Continue playing to unlock this achievement." TrueAchievements' separate achievement page for the game now lists names and descriptions for all eight. That supports Lawson's claim that most involve Chaos difficulty: six do. Spoilers follow, if you care about achievement spoilers.

AchievementRequirement (per TrueAchievements' listing)Likely G
The Luan Bird DancesClear any scenario once with Ziluan10
The Flying General of Hulao GateDefeat Lu Bu in "Battle of Hulao Gate – Allied Forces" on Chaos30
Raid on Hefei CastleWin "The Siege of Hefei Castle – Wei" on Chaos with Cao Rui and Man Chong alive30
Flameless YilingWin "Battle of Yiling – Wu" on Chaos without triggering a fire attack30
Counterattack on Wuzhang PlainsWin "Battle of Wuzhang Plains – Shu" on Chaos after defeating all enemy officers30
Rescue Operation at HefeiWin "Battle of Hefei – Yuan Shao Forces" on Chaos while not controlling Yuan Shao30
Counterattack at Hefei CastleTrigger Shu's all-out assault in the Side Story "Siege of Hefei Castle – Shu" on Chaos30
Control Yourself!Receive 30 warnings from allied officers for charging ahead alone10

A caveat on the Gamerscore column: the news article shows six hidden 30G entries and two hidden 10G entries. The pairings in the table follow the list's layout and the fact that only the Chaos tasks look like 30G work. The listing I checked doesn't state them explicitly. The descriptions are reliable. The exact G values for each line should be treated as a close match, not a confirmed one.

In practice:

  • Hulao Gate on Chaos is the one to worry about. Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors 3 has a reputation. On Chaos, beating him will depend on a strong, well-equipped officer.
  • Escort tasks like Raid on Hefei Castle mean you have to protect NPCs who wander into danger.
  • Flameless Yiling is a restriction, not a combat test. You need to know what triggers the fire attack before you start.
  • Control Yourself! gives you 10G for charging ahead without your allies. Most Dynasty Warriors players already do this.

Planning your run

Here's a rough order, based on general Musou experience. It isn't a verified walkthrough:

  1. Start with Musou Mode on a comfortable difficulty. Each officer's clear builds toward the faction achievements and adds kills and morale boosts along the way.
  2. Turn on a weapon tracker early. Weapon Enthusiast is 70G of missable-feeling conditions. Checking mission requirements before replaying a stage saves time.
  3. Use Ziluan once. One scenario clear with the Origins protagonist gets you The Luan Bird Dances.
  4. Level up one strong officer. Merit to 99,999, top weapons, and good items will make the Chaos runs much easier.
  5. Do Guardian Deity on Hard, not Chaos. You need 10 wins with every ally alive. Pick short stages.
  6. Play Challenge Mode separately. Six first-place records are easier in focused sessions than squeezed between campaign runs.
  7. Save the Chaos achievements for last, when your officer is at full strength.

The bigger picture

A remaster that ships with a full achievement list is normal now. It still matters for Xbox players, who are coming back to a game that was once on the original Xbox. TrueAchievements also reported earlier that future Dynasty Warriors remasters on Xbox may depend on how this one sells.

Is it a "tough outing"? The list is long, not especially punishing. About 400G depends on patience and nothing else: the all-officer clears, every weapon, and every item. The real difficulty sits in the six Chaos mission achievements, Guardian Deity, and the six Challenge Mode records. Players who enjoy Dynasty Warriors will likely have a good time. Players who want a quick 1,000G should look elsewhere.

The launch-day demo is a cheap way to check whether this version still plays well for you before committing dozens of hours to it.
