ERAZER has launched the S201 mini PC in China, combining an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor, 16GB of soldered LPDDR5 memory and a 512GB SSD. Technetbook reports a subsidy-adjusted price of 2,549.15 yuan, with IT Home corroborating the configuration and launch details. The important trade-off is already apparent: this compact desktop offers eight CPU cores and plenty of connections, but its reported memory capacity is fixed.

Two compact black mini PCs are shown with their ports, processor and memory icons, and 128 × 128 × 47 mm dimensions. A new mini PC with an established AMD processor

The S201 is a new system, not a debut for its processor. AMD dates the Ryzen 7 7735HS to the second quarter of 2023 and identifies it as a Zen 3+ chip with eight cores and 16 threads, a 3.2GHz base clock and boost speeds up to 4.75GHz. Its Ryzen 7000 branding should not be mistaken for a newer CPU architecture.

AMD also specifies Radeon 680M integrated graphics with 12 graphics cores. That establishes the graphics hardware included in the processor; it does not establish gaming frame rates or application performance in ERAZER’s particular enclosure. Neither launch report provides S201 benchmark results.

The cooling arrangement deserves the same distinction between specification and measurement. IT Home lists a blower-style fan inside a 128 × 128 × 47mm chassis, while AMD specifies a 35–54W processor TDP range. ERAZER’s actual power configuration, sustained performance and fan noise are not established by those figures. A small box can accommodate a capable processor; the specification sheet cannot tell us how quietly it does so.

Fixed memory is the key buying constraint

Technetbook describes the S201’s 16GB of LPDDR5 as soldered, and IT Home likewise identifies onboard memory. Buyers should therefore treat 16GB as the capacity they are purchasing, rather than assume an upgrade slot is waiting inside.

There is a useful distinction here: AMD lists support for up to 64GB at the processor-platform level, but that does not make the S201 upgradeable. A CPU’s memory ceiling and a finished computer’s physical memory implementation are different specifications.

For anyone considering virtual machines or memory-heavy development work, the practical advice is to size the workload before buying, not plan around adding RAM later. Storage also needs clarification: the launch coverage specifies a 512GB SSD, but does not identify its interface, replacement procedure or additional drive slots. Confirm those details before treating this as an expandable home-lab machine.

Ports offer flexibility—with some unanswered questions

According to IT Home, ERAZER distributes the connections as follows:

LocationReported connections
FrontTwo USB-A 3.2 ports, one 5Gbps USB-C port, one 3.5mm combination audio jack
RearTwo USB-A 3.2 ports, two USB-A 2.0 ports, two gigabit Ethernet ports, HDMI and DisplayPort

Wireless connectivity consists of Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The reports do not specify HDMI or DisplayPort versions, supported monitor resolutions, or the precise speed designation of the USB-A 3.2 ports.

Technetbook describes HDMI and DisplayPort as enabling a dual-monitor arrangement. However, readers should not translate that into a guaranteed resolution-and-refresh-rate combination without system-specific documentation. Likewise, the USB-C connection is described as “full-featured,” but the coverage does not explicitly define its video-output or power-delivery capabilities.

The two gigabit Ethernet ports are potentially useful for separating network connections in a lab or small-server setup. They are not, by themselves, proof of ready-made router functionality, bundled networking software or tested routing throughput. Those uses remain possibilities to investigate, rather than measured capabilities of this launch.

China pricing is not a U.S. launch price

The reported 2,549.15-yuan price includes local subsidies. Technetbook’s approximate $354 conversion is just that—a conversion in its report, not a confirmed U.S. retail offer. The publication says international launch dates and pricing have not been confirmed.

Windows buyers have another question to settle. AMD lists Windows 11 64-bit support for the processor, but neither launch report identifies the operating system shipped with the S201. Processor support does not establish that a particular Windows edition or license is included.

The sensible next step is to ask the seller for written confirmation of Windows licensing, storage expandability, warranty coverage and the exact display modes supported. The S201’s reported combination of an eight-core processor, compact enclosure and dual Ethernet is worth attention; its fixed memory and incomplete system documentation deserve equal billing. This is a launch to assess on configuration and support—not a dollar conversion dressed up as a purchase recommendation.
