Halo Fest’s December dates survive the Xbox restructuring
Tashi’s message was brief: Halo Fest was “still on for December,” with no changes to its dates or locations. He asked fans to be patient about further details while the team prioritized supporting colleagues, and said more updates would come in the following weeks. Halo’s official event page continues to list the Seattle gathering for December 11–13.
The reassurance follows a consequential change at Xbox. Microsoft announced cuts affecting Halo Studios and other parts of its games organization, while development of the next Halo title is moving to Activision. That is narrower than saying Activision has taken over every aspect of the franchise—or that the change determines who will run each Halo Fest activity.
For attendees, Tashi settled the most pressing scheduling question. His statement did not give a revised panel timetable or specifically reconfirm every guest appearance and competition. Those details matter to people deciding how to spend a weekend in Seattle, and they are the substance to watch for in the promised updates.
Halo Fest’s concert and convention occupy different venues
Halo Fest marks 25 years since Halo: Combat Evolved with two components across three days. The Seattle Symphony is scheduled to perform a Halo concert at Benaroya Hall on Friday, December 11. The convention follows on Saturday and Sunday, December 12–13, with developer and community panels, art, cosplay, meetups, gameplay and competitions among the activities Halo has advertised. A convention ticket and a concert seat are distinct admissions: Halo’s ticketing announcement described reserved seating for the concert and general admission for the convention.
There is one venue detail worth resolving before setting off. Halo originally announced the convention for the Seattle Convention Center’s Summit building. In a May 2026 update, organizers moved it to the neighboring, larger Arch building and released more tickets. The main event page and FAQ still display Summit, so their venue text conflicts with that later organizer update. Tashi’s September assurance that locations had not changed does not undo the announced May move; attendees should look for a clear building confirmation in forthcoming event communications.
The May update also announced Steve Downes and Jen Taylor—the voices of Master Chief and Cortana—as guests, with detailed schedules to follow. Those plans give fans a sense of the convention’s scope, while leaving the timing of individual appearances to be confirmed.
Halo Fest ticket status makes the next update more important than another sale
Halo’s event page currently labels Halo Fest sold out. Organizers previously released additional tickets after moving the convention to Arch, but that earlier sale is no indication that ordinary admission is available now. The announced competitive program includes a $150,000 Halo Championship Series invitational and $50,000 in open tournaments across Halo games; Tashi’s scheduling message did not supply a new tournament timetable.
Existing ticket-holders also have a documented choice if their plans change. Halo’s FAQ directs purchasers to request refunds through Tixr by 11:59 p.m. PST on December 7, 2026, and says tickets are non-transferable. The same FAQ warns that door-opening times and schedules are subject to change—particularly useful context for anyone making travel arrangements around a specific session.

Keep the December dates in your plans if you already have admission, but separate that scheduling assurance from the activity-by-activity itinerary. For anyone still deciding whether to travel, the outstanding practical detail is the convention building: Halo’s May venue-change announcement says Arch, while prominent event information still says Summit.
