A laptop with a glowing processor sits beneath a world map linking product listings, suggesting global computer sales.
HP's EliteBook 6 G2i 14 is now on sale worldwide, and the regional listings differ more than the headline suggests. Notebookcheck reported on October 26, 2026 that the 14-inch business laptop is built on Intel's Panther Lake architecture. The maximum specs are 64 GB of RAM, an optional 800-nit display, PCIe Gen 5 storage, NFC and a SmartCard reader. The more useful story is how the price, processor, memory and storage vary by market. All of it is a spec-sheet and listing story. No benchmarks or battery tests have been published for this model, so nothing here speaks to real-world speed or endurance.

A laptop with a glowing processor sits beneath a world map linking product listings, suggesting global computer sales. What HP is selling

Notebookcheck says this follows HP's earlier refresh of the EliteBook 6 line with "G2" models a few months ago. The 14-inch G2i is now purchasable globally with Panther Lake chips. Windows 11 Pro is the default operating system on the listings Notebookcheck cites. HP's own spec pages also show Windows 11 Home variants, with a note that HP recommends Pro for business.

The reported regional starting points are:

MarketReported configurationPrice
UKCore Ultra 5 322, 16 GB, 512 GB SSD, 1200p 60 Hz IPS, Windows 11 Pro£1,428
UK (higher spec)Core Ultra 7 366H, 24 GB, 1 TB SSD, 2.5K IPS£2,351
EurozoneCore Ultra 7 355, 16 GB, 512 GB SSD, basic 1200p IPS€2,399 (about $2,685)
USCore Ultra 5 322, 16 GB, 256 GB SSD$2,842 with Windows 11 Pro, $2,504 with FreeDOS

These are snapshots taken at publication, not guaranteed current prices. They are also not like-for-like comparisons. The UK and US base models share a processor but differ in storage. The Eurozone listing uses a different CPU. Treat "global launch" as a family of regional SKUs, not one product at one price.

The US price and the FreeDOS option

The US starting price stands out. Notebookcheck calls it comparatively expensive. The same US configuration drops by $338 if you choose FreeDOS instead of a Windows 11 Pro licence. The report doesn't explain that gap beyond the OS choice. It also doesn't say whether you can add a Windows licence later at the same cost. IT buyers with volume licensing or imaging pipelines may care about that, but they should check the HP checkout before assuming the saving.

Memory, storage and the 800-nit panel

In the US, Notebookcheck reports these options:

  • RAM: 12, 16, 24, 32 or 64 GB of DDR5-5600.
  • Storage: up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5.
  • Processors: up to a Core Ultra 7 355.
  • Display: an 800-nit IPS option. Every US display option is 1920 × 1200.

HP's own Ireland product page for one configuration lists a 512 GB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD and two SODIMM slots. Another HP Ireland configuration shows a single 32 GB DDR5-5600 module in a one-SODIMM-slot setup. So memory slot count and upgrade headroom depend on the SKU. Check the exact model number before you plan a RAM upgrade.

The 800-nit panel is a specific optional screen, not a model-wide spec. HP's QuickSpecs describe it as a 1920 × 1200 panel with 800 nits typical brightness, 60 Hz and 100% sRGB. The same entry is tied to Sure View 6, HP's built-in privacy screen. Global QuickSpecs also list a 2.5K (2560 × 1600), 120 Hz VRR, 400-nit panel with 100% Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 coverage. That 2.5K panel appears in the UK example, but Notebookcheck says US buyers only get 1200p.

Processors

HP's support page lists several Panther Lake options for the 14-inch G2i:

  • The Core Ultra 7 366H is a 16-core part with a 4.8 GHz maximum P-core turbo and 50 NPU TOPS.
  • The Core Ultra 5 336H has 12 cores and is rated at 47 NPU TOPS.
  • The Core Ultra 7 355 has 8 cores and is rated at 49 NPU TOPS.

The Core Ultra 5 322 shipping in the US and UK base models is also on the list. Notebookcheck's reporting doesn't give its core count or NPU rating. NPU TOPS figures are vendor ratings, not measurements, and the useful Windows AI features that depend on them vary by software.

Connectivity and battery

Notebookcheck says the fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 6.0/Wi-Fi 7, NFC module and SmartCard reader are optional extras rather than standard. HP's Ireland pages show Wi-Fi 7 and 5G (via a MediaTek T700 modem) on some configurations. Describe all of these as options that depend on SKU and market.

Notebookcheck says every model has a 3-cell, 56 Wh battery. HP's own regional page for a 5G configuration lists a 3-cell, 68 Wh battery. That conflicts with the "all models" claim. Either the 5G variants differ from the US models or the report is too broad. If battery capacity matters to your purchase, check the spec sheet for your exact configuration.

What buyers should do

  1. Match the exact HP part number to the regional spec page. Don't rely on the headline specs.
  2. If you want the 800-nit panel, remember the brightness drops when privacy mode or touch is in use, and confirm it's offered in your market.
  3. Compare the Windows 11 Pro and FreeDOS prices only after checking how licensing works at checkout.
  4. For fleet buying, confirm SmartCard, NFC and WWAN options per SKU, because they aren't standard.
  5. Wait for independent reviews before judging performance and battery life. This report is availability and pricing only.

Notebookcheck also notes HP sells an EliteBook 6 G2q with a Snapdragon X2 Elite option. That is the Arm alternative for buyers who want a different silicon path.

Bottom line

The EliteBook 6 G2i 14 is a configurable business ultraportable with Panther Lake chips, up to 64 GB of RAM and a bright privacy-focused panel option. The "global" launch hides real differences in display menus, base specs and pricing. The US price premium stands out against the UK and Eurozone figures. The listings also show some inconsistencies, such as battery capacity. Buyers should verify the part number first.
