HP's Omni range now covers more than thin-and-light laptops. According to Pickr, HP's 2026 Australian line-up includes laptops, a compact desktop and an Android tablet. The pricing is useful, but the "from" prices hide a lot of configuration detail, and the sources disagree on some of it.

A laptop, compact desktop, and keyboard-equipped tablet sit on a desk overlooking a waterfront city. What HP is launching in Australia

Pickr describes the 2026 Omni launch as four devices: two laptops, one tablet and one desktop. Other Australian outlets cover a wider set. ITWire and SMB Tech both list the OmniBook 5, the OmniPad 12, the OmniDesk Mini, the OmniBook 3 and a Googlebook 14 whose price is still to be announced, plus the Nvidia-powered OmniBook Ultra.

Pickr frames this as a shift. The earlier OmniBooks leaned on Qualcomm Snapdragon chips and long battery life. This generation spreads across several form factors and chip families.

The OmniBook 3 discrepancy

Pickr says the OmniBook 3 is a 16-inch laptop from A$799. It says the laptop uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon C and has only 4 GB of RAM. Pickr's concern is that 4 GB is barely enough for a full laptop experience, especially with Windows 11 Home.

EFTM reports something different. It says HP is launching the OmniBook 3 with Intel Core 3 processors, starting at $799. Neither report is backed by a detailed HP specification sheet. HP's own Australian listings show how much the OmniBook 3 name covers. For example, one 17.3-inch OmniBook 3 configuration lists a Core Ultra 7, Windows 11 Home, 16 GB of DDR5 and a 512 GB SSD. That is an older, different model, but it shows that the name spans very different hardware.

Digital Reviews Network reports that the OmniBook 3 and Googlebook 14 appear in HP's pricing table without detailed specifications. It lists the OmniBook 3 at A$799 to A$2,699. Treat the Snapdragon C and 4 GB figures as unconfirmed until HP lists the exact SKU. The A$799 headline may also not match the configuration you would actually want.

OmniBook 5: the mainstream pick

EFTM says the OmniBook 5 is a 14-inch laptop with a 2.5K OLED display, a 1.16 kg aluminium chassis and four colours. It starts at $1,499 with an Intel Core 5 processor that includes an NPU. Digital Reviews Network adds that the release does not identify exact processor models. That means the specific AI features each configuration supports are not established. Digital Reviews also notes that HP's 22-hour battery rating comes from a local Full HD video playback test, not mixed use. Pickr's mention of "potential" OLED suggests the panel may vary by configuration.

OmniBook Ultra and RTX Spark

HP's global announcement on September 4 described the OmniBook Ultra 16 as powered by Nvidia RTX Spark and Windows. It said configurations go up to 128 GB of unified memory and up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance. HP said the Australian model pairs an Nvidia N1X 675 chip with a 3K OLED touch display. HP's global release did not give a price, and Australian pricing is still unconfirmed. HP's performance figures are its own claims. Digital Reviews notes the release includes no benchmark results.

OmniDesk Mini

The Australian price range is wide. ITWire reports the OmniDesk Mini priced from $1,299 to $2,999. EFTM says it can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9, up to 24 GB of DDR5 and a 1 TB SSD. Digital Reviews says the announcement itself did not provide processor, memory, storage or port details. Pickr compares it to a Mac mini. That is the reviewer's framing, not HP's.

A separate Wccftech report on a US OmniDesk mini, which I haven't matched to the Australian SKUs, gives a very different starting price of $799. It says storage upgrades are expensive. Don't assume US and Australian configurations match.

OmniPad 12 is Android

The OmniPad 12 shows that the Omni name doesn't mean Windows. It pairs Android 16 with a 12-inch 2K touchscreen and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor. An attachable keyboard and trackpad are included in the box. Digital Reviews notes it remains an Android device, so buyers hoping to replace a laptop should check that their required apps and workflows are supported. Windows-dependent software, enterprise management tooling and many desktop applications won't run on it.

Practical advice for buyers

  • Check the operating system. The OmniPad runs Android 16. The Googlebook 14 is an Android-based laptop. The OmniBooks and OmniDesk are the Windows machines in the line-up.
  • Confirm the exact SKU. Check the processor, RAM and storage, because the OmniBook 3 range spans A$799 to A$2,699.
  • Be wary of 4 GB of RAM. If you end up with that on Windows 11 Home, expect a cramped experience, as Pickr warns.
  • Don't count on dates. The release does not state firm on-sale dates for the priced products.
  • Treat battery and AI claims as HP's own. They are lab-test or marketing figures.

Analysis

Spreading the Omni brand across Intel, Qualcomm and Nvidia silicon, and across Windows and Android, makes the range broad. It also makes it confusing. That is common industry practice, and this is my own assessment. It lets HP cover many price points, but buyers have to read the spec sheet rather than trust the name.

Head of Personal Systems Neil Westhof said the refresh is meant to make it simpler for Australians to find a suitable device. Whether it does depends on how clearly HP lists each configuration at retail.
