A cozy, plant-filled modern living room and home office overlooks a city skyline at sunset.
IKEA and Xbox have a nine-piece furniture range called YXSTABY, and it has now reached the Philippines. It is a sofa-side story rather than a Windows one, but Xbox hardware designers worked on it. It also includes a monitor stand and a laptop support for PC setups. Here is what has been confirmed, what is only reported, and where the dates and prices don't line up.

A cozy, plant-filled modern living room and home office overlooks a city skyline at sunset. What YXSTABY is

YXSTABY is a nine-piece collection designed for gaming at home in any room. IKEA says one designer from each team worked on every piece. IKEA's collection page names the design team: Lukas Bazle, Darja Nordberg, Max Hausmann and David Wahl from IKEA, and Carl Ledbetter, Elliot Hsu and Ryan Whitaker from Xbox.

That is a co-design arrangement, not a logo slapped on existing furniture. Gear Patrol makes the same point, calling it a co-design process rather than a licensing deal. Dezeen describes the range as Xbox's debut foray into gaming furniture.

The nine pieces

Insider Gaming reported these US prices on October 20. Treat them as US-only list prices that may change.

PieceReported US price
Gaming Side Table on Castors$179.99
Gaming TV Stand on Castors$149.99
Gaming Lounge Chair$119.99
Gaming Thumbstick Stool$49.99
Gaming Monitor Stand$39.99
Gaming Laptop Support with Storage$34.99
Gaming Controller Display Box$29.99
Gaming D-pad Controller Platter$17.99
Gaming D-pad Cushion$17.99

Insider Gaming also reported that the TV stand takes a television up to 55 inches, with hooks and a tray on the back for organization.

The controller-shaped pieces

The Xbox controller is a recurring source of inspiration, shaping how several pieces look and how they work. Xbox Wire's announcement says the D-pad becomes a cushion and a shiny stainless-steel platter, and that a mirrored display box shows a controller from every side.

The thumbstick stool goes furthest. Xbox says it was developed from the Xbox Wireless Controller's original 3D design files, supplied by Xbox device designers. The grip texture was repurposed to help keep a seated person in place, as it does for a thumb.

The PC-friendly pieces

Most of the range is living-room furniture, but two pieces are aimed at desks:

  • Monitor stand: Gear Patrol says it lifts a display to a more ergonomic height and doubles as a storage platform for controllers and accessories. That is Gear Patrol's description, not a tested result.
  • Laptop support with storage: Xbox Wire lists it as a laptop support with storage and accessories. GadgetMatch adds that it has felt inserts and folds so it can double as a laptop stand.

For anyone running a Windows desktop or laptop beside a console, these are the practical pieces. None of this has been tested, so there are no claims here about durability or ergonomics.

Launch timeline

The dates differ by source, so they are worth separating:

  • August 26: The range was unveiled at Gamescom in August, with sales in IKEA stores and online set for October 1.
  • October 1: Xbox Wire said the collection launches in IKEA stores that day, with online sales later this year. It added that availability may vary by market.
  • October 20: Insider Gaming reported that the full collection was listed on IKEA's US website.
  • November 4: GadgetMatch says IKEA launched the collection in the Philippines at its Pasay showroom. The event included interactive room setups and a cosplay runway inspired by IKEA's FRAKTA bag. That is a local launch, not the global debut.

Online availability is the muddy part. Gear Patrol, citing the US shop page, said US stores would get the range on October 1, with online availability following on November 30. Insider Gaming reported an October 20 online listing. The two reports could reflect different listing states at different times, or one may be wrong. I can't settle it from here, so check your local IKEA listing for current stock and delivery.

The design pitch

IKEA's pitch is that gaming shouldn't take over a home. It says its designers and product developer are gamers themselves. Its stated aim is to make it easier for everyone to live their best gaming lives. In the Philippines, GadgetMatch quotes IKEA staff pointing to the country's strong gaming culture.

That is IKEA's own marketing language, and none of these claims have been independently verified.

Bottom line

YXSTABY is a real, officially announced Xbox and IKEA collaboration with nine products. The pieces range from obviously Xbox-branded items (cushion, platter, thumbstick stool) to generic furniture (TV stand, side table, lounge chair). The Philippines launch on November 4 is a regional rollout, and US prices and online availability dates vary by source. If you want the PC-oriented pieces, the monitor stand and laptop support are the two to look at. Check your local IKEA site before you plan a purchase.
