What TrueAchievements reported
TrueAchievements writer Sean Carey says the Minecraft (Nintendo Switch 2) list has 133 achievements worth 2,980 Gamerscore in total, and none are secret. The report says the list matches the standard Minecraft list, so there are no surprises. The list is left unedited, with title-update achievements still mixed in with the base set.
Several things the numbers imply:
- It is a separate game entry. On TrueAchievements, Switch 2 Minecraft has its own page, apart from the original Switch version.
- It is not the first Nintendo Minecraft list. The existing Minecraft (Nintendo Switch) entry also shows 133 achievements and 2,980 Gamerscore. On that page, the base game holds 79 achievements worth 1,750 Gamerscore. Another 54 achievements worth 1,230 Gamerscore come from 18 update and DLC groupings.
- The headline is about the Switch 2 entry. The Switch 2 page is the first Xbox achievement list for a Switch 2 title. It does not make Switch 2 the first Nintendo console to get Xbox achievements.
Carey counts it as the fifth game with Xbox achievements on a Nintendo console. The others he names are Minecraft (Nintendo Switch), Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition (Nintendo Switch), Minecraft Dungeons, and The Bard's Tale ARPG: Remastered and Resnarkled. He says all five support Xbox Live sign-in, so players can earn achievements on Nintendo's platforms. He also says there are now 12 stacks of Minecraft achievements across platforms, including oddities like Gear VR and Kindle Fire.
Timing and release status
The game launches on October 27, which is one day after the list appeared. A listing before launch does not show anyone has earned an achievement yet.
- Release date. Minecraft comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Mojang and Nintendo announced the date on August 5, and Mojang repeated it at Minecraft Live in September.
- TrueAchievements page. The game's page still says the release date has yet to be announced. That field is stale next to the official date.
- Game Pass. The page says the game is not on Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass.
What the Switch 2 version changes
According to Carey, the Switch 2 version supports Vibrant Visuals, which he calls Minecraft's biggest graphics update to date. He says it is optimized for the hardware, with better performance and load times.
Other coverage adds some limits:
- The Switch 2 version will use Vibrant Visuals as its default graphical mode, with enhanced lighting, improved shadows, and other effects.
- Vibrant Visuals is not available in split-screen, or in some Marketplace worlds and content.
- The digital Standard Edition for Switch 2 is free to Switch owners until the end of January 2027, on the Nintendo eShop only. This comes from a third-party summary of Mojang's pre-order details, so check the eShop listing before relying on it.
None of this material says how achievement progress carries over from the original Switch version, or whether the two lists count separately. TrueAchievements treats them as separate game entries, so the two lists appear to be tracked separately. That is an inference from the separate pages, not something I can confirm. Don't assume progress carries over.
What's on the list
The achievements are the familiar Minecraft set, from basic crafting to endgame bosses. Some examples:
- Entry-level (10 points). "Taking Inventory" (open your inventory), "Getting Wood" and "Benchmaking".
- Mid-tier. "Adventuring Time" (discover 17 biomes) is worth 40 points. "Zombie Doctor" and "On A Rail" are also 40 points each.
- Endgame. "The End" (kill the Ender Dragon) and "The Beginning." (kill the Wither) are 40 points each.
- Top value. "The Beaconator" (create and fully power a Beacon) is worth 60 points, the highest on the list.
- Recent additions. "Crafters Crafting Crafters", "Who Needs Rockets?" (launch yourself upward 8 blocks with a Wind Charge), "Heart Transplanter", "Stay Hydrated!" and "Mob Kabob" (hit five mobs in one Spear charge).
- Newest. "Uh-oh." (have a Sulfur Cube absorb a TNT block) is worth 10 points. It is the last entry, and it appears to be the only one in the group tied to the 26.30 "Chaos Cubed" update.
One difference between the two lists is in the wording. Some descriptions differ from the older Switch page. For example, "Into the Nether" reads "Entered the Nether" on the Switch 2 page and "Construct a Nether Portal" on the original Switch page. The Switch 2 list also words several others differently, such as "Sound the Alarm!" and "Caves and Cliffs". Treat the Switch 2 page's current wording as authoritative for that version.
Practical notes for achievement hunters
- Sign-in. Carey says Xbox Live support lets you sign in to your Xbox account on Nintendo's platforms. The sources I found don't give the exact steps, so check the in-game prompts at launch.
- No Game Pass angle. Don't expect a Game Pass route to these achievements.
- A familiar grind. Because it mirrors the standard list, expect the same 133-achievement slog as other platforms. TrueAchievements rates the Switch version's base game at 30–35 hours and "Easy". That figure is for the original Switch listing, not the new one.
- Stacking. Carey leaves the splitting of base and update achievements to TrueAchievements' Game Information team. Expect how the list is grouped to change.
The bottom line
This is a small but concrete data point. Xbox's achievement ecosystem now covers a Switch 2 title, and a single ported game can add nearly 3,000 Gamerscore to a profile. The achievements are the same as on every other Minecraft platform, so the practical effect is more of the same. Anything about account linking and progress transfer is unconfirmed until launch day.
