A pixel-art Halloween gaming desk features a Tamagotchi, spooky calendars, controllers, pizza, and soda.
Five Nights at Freddy's began in 2014 as a small indie horror game about watching security cameras. Twelve years later, one of its smallest and oddest spin-offs is coming to consoles. myPOPGOES is a pixel-art game about keeping a demanding animatronic weasel alive inside a plastic LCD toy, and it's scheduled for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

The simple part is the platforms. The date is less clear. The official Five Nights at Freddy's social account says one date, and Microsoft's weekly Xbox release calendar gives another. Details below.

What was announced

On September 24, 2026, the official FNAF-ScottGames account posted that myPOPGOES will release on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on October 8. JonnyBlox, a fan news account that covers FNAF, reposted the announcement and credited FNAF-ScottGames. LEVEL UP also reported it. According to LEVEL UP, the announcement featured promotional art showing an animatronic holding a controller.

The post didn't mention new features, new content or technical changes for the console versions. LEVEL UP concluded that with no additional features or new content announced, the release is expected to be a straightforward port of the original PC game. That's a reasonable guess, but it's still a guess. The announcement said nothing either way.

On price, LEVEL UP reports that currently priced at $4.99 USD on Steam, myPOPGOES will launch at the same budget-friendly price point across the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store. Steam does list the PC version at $4.99. I couldn't find official Nintendo or PlayStation store listings to confirm console prices, so treat those as reported, not confirmed.

Summary: The console release is confirmed. The October 8 date comes from the official FNAF social account. Console pricing matches Steam, according to LEVEL UP.

Which date is right: October 1 or October 8?

On September 25, a day after the social post, Microsoft published its weekly "Next Week on Xbox" roundup on Xbox Wire. It lists myPOPGOES on October 1, tagged as an Xbox Play Anywhere release. The entry uses the store description: myPOPGOES is a short and simple resource management game, with a bonus minigame collection, where you take care of an extremely needy weasel named Popgoes.

Pure Xbox's roundup of the same week also has myPOPGOES (October 1). The fan-run FNAF Wiki on Fandom goes further, stating that ports to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch consoles are set to release on October 1, 2026. The wiki is community-edited, so it's a useful signal but not an authoritative source.

So the picture looks like this:

SourcePlatforms namedDate given
FNAF-ScottGames social post (Sept. 24, via JonnyBlox relay and LEVEL UP)PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo SwitchOctober 8, 2026
Xbox Wire "Next Week on Xbox" (Sept. 25)Xbox (Play Anywhere)October 1, 2026
Pure Xbox weekly roundupXboxOctober 1
FNAF Wiki (fan-edited)PlayStation, Xbox, SwitchOctober 1, 2026

What explains the gap? We can only guess. Xbox Wire itself says release dates are subject to change. The dates could be staggered across platforms, one source could be wrong, or the schedule may have moved between the two posts. Neither the developer nor the publisher has explained it. If you play on Xbox, check the Microsoft Store listing around October 1 rather than assuming October 8. Players on PlayStation and Switch should watch their own stores too.

What Xbox and Windows players get

This is the part that matters most for Windows users. Microsoft's Xbox store page lists Clickteam LLC USA as publisher and Kane Carter as developer. It advertises:

  • Xbox Play Anywhere: buy it once and play it on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs.
  • Smart Delivery: you get the right version for whichever Xbox console you own.
  • Optimized for Xbox Series X|S
  • Xbox achievements and cloud saves
  • Supported devices: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and handheld

LEVEL UP names Xbox Series X|S, but the store page also includes Xbox One. None of the evidence shows whether the Xbox One and Series X|S versions launch on the same day.

Play Anywhere also creates a small puzzle for PC players. Anyone who already bought the game on Steam owns a separate Steam license. There's no sign that a Steam purchase carries over to the Microsoft Store version, which is normal for cross-store releases. If you want cloud saves that sync between an Xbox and a Windows PC, the Microsoft Store copy is the one that offers it.

The US Xbox listing gives the game a Teen rating with violence and blood descriptors. Ratings can differ by region.

Summary: On Xbox, this is a Play Anywhere title with Smart Delivery, achievements and cloud saves across Xbox One, Series X|S and PC.

What myPOPGOES is

The game comes from the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative, a program that lets fan developers publish official, licensed FNAF projects. The Xbox store puts it this way: POPGOES is an official Five Nights at Freddy's spinoff series, produced by Scott Cawthon and developed by fans as part of the "Fazbear Fanverse Initiative". LEVEL UP adds that because the title originated through the Fazbear Fanverse initiative, Cawthon was not involved in its direct development.

The game has had a longer life than most people realize. The FNAF Wiki says the game initially released on Game Jolt on April 3, 2023 for free as a late April Fools' joke. The paid, expanded version launched on Steam on August 1, 2024, during the franchise's 10th anniversary. The wiki also lists a major content update called New and Improved! on January 24, 2025, and says the game released on iOS and Android on November 20, 2025. LEVEL UP's "two years of waiting" framing therefore leaves out the phone versions.

The gameplay is a tiny virtual-pet loop, much like a Tamagotchi. Popgoes lives inside a plastic LCD toy and needs pizza, fizzy drinks and entertainment. The store copy darkly notes that if his needs aren't met, he passes out. Or maybe he straight-up dies. The Steam version also includes:

  • Challenge modes: Sticky, Expire and Blind
  • Extra minigames: Longest Popgoes, Fishing and Topping Juggle
  • Unlockable playable characters, stickers, character sheets and diary entries
  • 21 Steam achievements, single-player only

The Xbox listing mentions "a bonus minigame collection" but doesn't list every mode. It's likely the console versions match the Steam version, but that hasn't been confirmed.

On story, LEVEL UP describes the game as disconnected from the main FNAF storyline. The official store text says the game is a canon entry in the POPGOES timeline, with real lore implications, unlockable character information, and plenty of interesting story tidbits! Both can be true. It's a side story within POPGOES, not a chapter of the main FNAF saga.

Reception

Steam rates the game "Very Positive," with 86% of 753 user reviews positive. The FNAF Wiki gives a more mixed account of the launch. It notes that the game was heavily criticized for a variety of bugs it shipped with as well as the extremely high difficulty of later nights. Some players reportedly took hours to finish the challenges, even though Kane Carter had estimated two to three hours to 100% the game. The January 2025 update came after that criticism. Console players will likely get the patched game rather than the buggy launch build, though no official source has said so.

Is it worth $4.99?

For FNAF and POPGOES fans who are curious and don't own a PC, probably yes. It's a short, cheap game, and on Xbox it comes with achievements, and one purchase covers both console and Windows PC. Is it a new FNAF game? No. It's a two-year-old fan-made spin-off landing on more platforms. The bigger FNAF news this week, including a teased Fortnite collaboration, hasn't been confirmed, so this port is the only concrete release news so far.

Summary: Expect a cheap, small virtual-pet game with FNAF cameos and lore aimed at POPGOES fans. Check your store on October 1, and don't be surprised if it doesn't appear until October 8.
