A customizable gaming controller with a touchscreen and interchangeable components sits on a desk in a blue-lit gaming setup.
Nacon has announced the Revolution 5 Unlimited (R5U), a premium PlayStation 5 controller that also targets PC players. The pitch is an on-controller display, magnetic TMR sticks, and a PC mode with a companion app. It is a PS5-first product, but Nacon puts PC in the headline, and that makes it relevant to Windows gamers.

What Nacon announced

Nacon describes the R5U as an officially licensed PlayStation 5 asymmetric controller with a built-in control screen, a charging dock and TMR magnetic technology. Pre-orders opened on October 2 through nacongaming.com.

Nacon's suggested retail price is €199.99 / $229.99 / £179.99. The PlayDayOne report listed only the dollar and pound prices. Nacon's own US catalog listing for the controller was still showing a preorder tag at $199.90 in the material reviewed. That figure doesn't match the announced price. It may be a placeholder, so treat $229.99 as the announced US price until the store page settles.

I found no shipping date in the sources reviewed. This is a pre-order, not a product in stores.

The headline hardware features

  • Built-in control screen. Nacon calls this a world first for an officially licensed PS5 controller. Players can adjust audio mixing, joystick sensitivity and shortcut mapping, and manage controller system settings, without leaving the game. The "first" claim is narrow. It covers licensed PS5 pads, not every controller ever made.
  • TMR sticks. Tunneling Magnetoresistance technology debuts in Nacon's lineup. Nacon says it significantly improves reliability and delivers surgical precision with reduced power consumption. Those are manufacturer claims. I found no independent drift or durability testing.
  • Competitive controls. There are micro-switch action buttons, Trigger Blockers that switch from an analog pull to an ultra-short click, and multiple remappable shortcut buttons.
  • Shooter Pro mode. TechRadar reports that this software mode completely removes joystick dead zones. PlayDayOne describes it more loosely as a way to enhance responsiveness. Removing the dead zone can help precision, but it can also make a worn or sensitive stick register tiny unintended movements. Reviewers will need to test that.
  • Accessories. The package includes a storage case and a dedicated charging dock. Nacon says this is a first for one of its officially licensed PS5 controllers.

The PC angle

Nacon lists "triple connectivity" compatible with the PS5, PC and Android Smart TVs, supported by a dedicated iOS/Android mobile app for fine-tuning. The PlayDayOne write-up of Nacon's materials adds a dedicated PC mode with 1 ms latency. It says the mobile app handles shortcut-key mapping and gyroscope configuration.

Several details that matter to PC users are missing:

  • PC is footnoted. Nacon's headline marks "PC" with an asterisk. I couldn't see the footnote text, so I can't tell you what conditions apply.
  • No Windows details. The material I reviewed names no supported Windows version, app version or storefront.
  • The three connection types aren't spelled out. Don't assume Bluetooth, USB or a 2.4 GHz dongle until Nacon publishes a spec sheet.
  • The 1 ms figure has no context. There is no test method, and no statement of whether it is wired or wireless.
  • The setup is app-based. Configuration runs through a mobile app, not a desktop utility, as described. That differs from the PC companion app Nacon uses for the Revolution 5 Pro. This is worth checking if you want to tune the controller on a PC without a phone.

How it compares with Nacon's Xbox sibling

The Xbox model, the Revolution X Unlimited, shows what Nacon has published for a similar design. The R5U's announced triple connectivity covers PS5, PC and Android Smart TVs. The Xbox version's page gives more detail. It lists dual wireless via 2.4 GHz USB and Bluetooth, a PC mode with 1 ms wired and 2 ms wireless latency, and Hall Effect sensing. I can't say how much of that carries over to the PS5 model. The platforms and sensor technology differ, and the R5U's spec sheet isn't out.

One difference is already clear. The Xbox model uses Hall Effect sensing, and the R5U uses TMR. Both are magnetic, but Nacon is presenting TMR as an upgrade in reliability and power draw.

Who this is for, and what to ask before buying

At $229.99, this is a niche product for competitive players who want on-pad tuning and are comfortable with a premium price. Licensed PS5 pads have a known limitation. GamesRadar notes that officially licensed PS5 controllers at present have no rumble, haptic feedback or trigger resistance. That review covered the earlier Revolution 5 Pro. It is a reasonable caution for the R5U, though Nacon hasn't said whether the same applies here. The same review said the Pro's rumble motors worked on PS4 or PC.

Questions to answer once reviews and the spec sheet arrive:

  • What exactly are the three connection modes?
  • Does Windows detect the controller natively in PC mode, and which games and launchers work with it?
  • What is the real wireless latency, and what is the battery life with the screen on?
  • Does the mobile app need an account or a phone for every change?
  • Does the PC mode include vibration?
  • Does Shooter Pro behave well in games with sensitive aiming?

Bottom line

The R5U is a confirmed, priced pre-order with a distinctive feature set: an on-controller screen, TMR sticks and a PC mode. Its performance claims all come from Nacon, and the PC support details are thin. PC players should wait for the full spec sheet and independent reviews before spending $229.99.

Update: R5U reportedly supports PC vibration; desktop app remains unconfirmed (October 2, 2026)

The Revolution 5 Unlimited will reportedly use its built-in vibration feedback in dedicated PC mode, according to GamesRadar+’s October 2 report. That answers a question left open in our initial coverage: PC rumble is now specifically reported for the R5U, rather than inferred from its predecessor. GamesRadar+ also reports that the controller will lack DualSense-style haptic feedback and adaptive trigger resistance on PS5.

A Windows configuration app remains unconfirmed. GamesRadar+ says it asked Nacon’s product managers whether a PC application would arrive later, but received no concrete answer. For Windows players who prefer desktop-based customization, that means a future PC utility should not be treated as a promised feature.

GamesRadar+ also reports that the package includes a wireless dongle, interchangeable thumbstick tops and weights for the controller’s grips, alongside a cable and cleaning cloth. The outlet specifies six extra controls: four back buttons and two additional bumpers. The reported dongle helps clarify the wireless setup, but does not establish all three connection modes or resolve the outstanding Windows compatibility and latency-testing questions.

Update: R5U reportedly ships October 21; three connection modes identified (October 3, 2026)

The Revolution 5 Unlimited is reportedly set to begin shipping on October 21, 2026, according to Gaming Age’s October 3 report. That adds a shipping target missing from our initial coverage, although the report does not establish separate regional delivery schedules or when individual pre-orders will arrive.

Gaming Age also identifies the controller’s three connection methods as wired, wireless through a dongle, and Bluetooth. This fills in the previously unspecified “triple connectivity” claim and goes beyond the dongle inclusion reported in our earlier update. For Windows buyers, the distinction matters when choosing between a cable, a USB receiver and Bluetooth, but the report does not establish whether every connection method supports the same features in dedicated PC mode.

The outlet additionally reports compatibility with Android, iOS and Smart TVs. Its wording presents iOS as a supported platform for using the controller, rather than merely for running the configuration app. However, Gaming Age does not provide a platform-by-platform compatibility matrix. Supported Windows versions, connection-specific latency and availability of a desktop configuration utility therefore remain unresolved; the newly reported shipping date and connection options should not be read as confirmation of those details.
