What the Geekbench listings show
The public Geekbench search page lists several Geekbench 7 CPU results under "XIAOMI REDMI Book 16 2027". They have these details in common:
- All the results are on Windows.
- Each entry identifies an Intel Core 5 320 with six cores.
- All the entries were uploaded on September 22, 2026.
- Single-core scores run from 2,206 to 2,382.
- Multi-core scores run from roughly 7,500 to just over 8,000.
Gizmochina reports the best scores so far as 2,382 single-core and 8,013 multi-core, with several other runs close behind. Those are individual uploaded runs. They don't show which power mode, cooling setup or firmware produced them, so they are not a review. Final retail performance could differ.
The memory detail comes from IT Home, which reported on October 17 that the Geekbench entries show 16 GB of DDR5-4800. Notebookcheck reports the same. Geekbench's search summary does not show RAM capacity or type, so treat this as reported from the full listings.
What the Core 5 320 is
Intel's specification page says the Core 5 processor 320 belongs to the Core Series 3 family, previously codenamed Wildcat Lake, and is a mobile part. The listed specs are:
- Cores: six cores and six threads, made up of two Performance cores and four Low Power Efficient cores.
- Boost: up to 4.6 GHz.
- Power: 15 W base, 35 W maximum turbo, 10 W minimum assured.
- Memory: DDR5 up to 6400 MT/s or LPDDR5X up to 7467 MT/s, one channel, up to 64 GB.
- Graphics: integrated Intel Graphics with two Xe-cores.
- NPU: 16 TOPS, with Windows Studio Effects support, and WindowsML and DirectML among the supported AI frameworks.
- I/O: PCIe 4.0 and Thunderbolt 4 support.
Intel's own caveat applies here. Some features may not be available on every system, so check the vendor's specifications. Thunderbolt, display outputs and the like are platform capabilities. They are not confirmed ports on a Redmi Book.
Notebookcheck notes it has already reviewed this chip in Dell's cheapest XPS 13. That gives a rough sense of the chip's character. It is a value-oriented part, and it is not meant to match the high-end H-series processors.
Upgradeable RAM is a guess
Notebookcheck says the 16 GB of DDR5 means the laptop "should feature upgradeable RAM, unlike its Panther Lake-based counterpart." That is an inference. The Core 5 320 supports both DDR5 and LPDDR5X, so DDR5 appearing in a listing says the platform can use DDR5. It does not show whether the memory is on a socketed SODIMM or soldered down. Only Xiaomi's motherboard design settles that. Don't plan an upgrade around it yet.
Intel's single-channel limit is also worth knowing. The spec lists one memory channel, so a second module would not give dual-channel bandwidth.
How it compares with the predecessor
Notebookcheck describes the move as a swap from Intel Meteor Lake-H to Wildcat Lake. It says its own benchmarks suggest the Core 5 320 should make the 2027 model more efficient than the Core Ultra 5 125H-based predecessor, though with weaker multi-core performance. The core counts fit that picture. Intel lists six cores and six threads for the Core 5 320. Notebookcheck's reference data describes the Core Ultra 5 125H as a 14-core, 18-thread chip. That points to a trade of multi-thread muscle for efficiency. Whole-laptop battery life also depends on cooling, power limits, the display and the battery, so a chip comparison can't settle it.
The Redmi Book 16 2026 has some known hardware, as Notebookcheck reports:
- A 1600p, 400-nit, 120 Hz IPS display.
- An 80 Wh battery with 100 W charging.
Notebookcheck says it would expect the new model to retain some of this. That is expectation, not confirmation. Gizmochina notes that no display details, storage options, chassis changes, battery size or pricing have leaked yet.
Notebookcheck also mentions a separate Xiaomi laptop, the Redmi Book Pro 16 2026. It runs on Intel's Panther Lake platform, up to the Core Ultra X7 358H with Arc B390 graphics. That is a higher tier than this model.
What we don't know
- Xiaomi has not announced the laptop, a launch date, pricing or sales regions.
- The final memory configuration is unconfirmed, and so is whether the RAM can be upgraded.
- The display, battery, charging, storage and port layout are unknown.
- Nothing in the evidence says which Windows edition it will ship with.
Why Windows users should care
If the leak holds, this looks like a cost- and efficiency-minded 16-inch Windows laptop. Intel's spec sheet gives it a 16-TOPS NPU and Windows Studio Effects support. Whether Xiaomi enables those, or what software it ships, is unknown.
For buyers, the cautious reading is this. A Core 5 320 machine should suit everyday office work, browsing and light multitasking. Heavy multi-threaded work such as video encoding or large compiles would be better served by a higher-tier chip. Wait for full specifications and independent reviews before judging it. Pre-launch benchmark leaks often turn out to be early validation units rather than final retail hardware.
