A brave chicken knight and animal companions explore a colorful fantasy kingdom beneath floating gaming icons.
Scramble Knights Online (Game Preview) joins Xbox Game Pass today, October 26, 2026. It is available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, so the tier question matters more than the chicken jokes. Not every subscriber gets it.

A brave chicken knight and animal companions explore a colorful fantasy kingdom beneath floating gaming icons. Who gets it, and where

Microsoft's Xbox Wire lists it for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 26, under Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Premium isn't on that list, and neither is Essential. The new Premium tier is the one that trips people up. A WindowsForum roundup of the week's releases noted that Pure Xbox's table lists the game without Premium, and that Premium subscribers shouldn't assume they're covered.

The game is also an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Xbox Wire's weekly roundup tags it as Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. Xbox's store page also lists cloud saves, achievements and cross-platform co-op.

Quick tier check:

  • Game Pass Ultimate: included.
  • PC Game Pass: included.
  • Game Pass Premium and Essential: not listed by Microsoft.

Console multiplayer needs a subscription

Xbox's store page has a separate note about online play. It says the game requires an online multiplayer subscription on console. The store page words it as Game Pass Core or Ultimate, sold separately. In practice:

  • Ultimate subscribers cover both the library access and the console online requirement.
  • PC Game Pass covers the library on PC only, and this item is about console play.
  • I haven't seen Microsoft say how Premium treats this title's online play. Check your own plan before you count on it.

What "Game Preview" means

The Xbox store listing is blunt. It calls the game a work in progress that may change or never reach a final release. It says to buy only if you're comfortable with its unfinished state. Game Pass inclusion doesn't change that.

The developer, Funktronic Labs, has set expectations on Steam:

  • At the Early Access launch, only the 1-Star area is fully playable, which the studio puts at roughly five hours of content.
  • Optional faction PvP is included in an early state.
  • The studio says Early Access will last at least a year.
  • Version 1.0 is planned to have at least four star tiers and around 40 hours of content.
  • The first big update is planned for this winter.

These are the developer's own plans for the Steam Early Access release. The Game Pass build may not match them, and the plans aren't guarantees. The Steam price rise during Early Access has no bearing on Game Pass pricing.

What you're playing

Xbox's description calls it an MMO-lite action RPG set in the shared online kingdom of Terracott. It has bite-sized, Zelda-inspired quests, puzzle dungeons, a Town Square for gear upgrades and fishing, and top-down combat against enemies like electric slimes and rock-hurling crabs. You can play solo or in co-op with up to four players. If you die, you spectate as a chicken.

Funktronic says all versions can play with each other, and that a squad is currently four players in total. Xbox's store page independently lists cross-platform co-op. Earlier Steam patch notes changed world PvP to opt-in, tied to joining a faction or taking a PvP quest. If you just want a cozy co-op romp, you can probably avoid it.

PC requirements

Funktronic's Steam page lists the following for Windows:

SpecMinimumRecommended
OSWindows 10 (x64)Windows 11 (x64)
Memory6 GB RAM8 GB RAM
Graphics2 GB+ DX11 or Vulkan GPU4 GB+ DX11 or Vulkan GPU
Storage8 GB8 GB
Target60 fps on low settings60 fps on high settings

These figures come from the Steam listing, not from Xbox's PC page. The Steam page also says the Steam build uses Easy Anti-Cheat with kernel-level anti-cheat. That may matter if you manage a locked-down or shared PC. I haven't confirmed whether the Game Pass PC build uses the same anti-cheat.

Achievements

TrueAchievements reports 30 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore, none hidden. Most are "title" unlocks earned through play, such as parrying, blocking, fishing, swimming, completing quests, opening chests and breaking pots. A few involve other players, such as hooking another hero with a fishing rod or kicking a bomb into one.

The catch for completionists is that many descriptions say "many times" or "a great distance" without numbers. Exact thresholds aren't published, so you'll have to play and see. TrueAchievements expects most will unlock naturally for anyone who sticks with the game. Early Access also means the list could change.

Practical takeaways

  1. Check that your plan is Ultimate or PC Game Pass before you download.
  2. On console, make sure you have online multiplayer access.
  3. Treat it as an early build. Expect bugs, limited content and patches, and report problems through the developer's channels.
  4. If you're hunting Gamerscore, wait for the community to work out the vague thresholds.

At launch this is about five hours of polished content in a game the studio itself calls a work in progress. For Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers it costs nothing extra to try.
