A cloaked warrior raises both fists before a misty gothic castle, with the scene mirrored on a monitor and handheld console.
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon has released its free Fists of Fury DLC alongside update 1.3.0, adding Xbox Play Anywhere support, dedicated Steam Deck presets and another performance overhaul. RPG Site reports that Questline and Awaken Realms launched both on October 1, 2026. For Windows players, the biggest change may be moving between console and PC without abandoning their progress.

Xbox Play Anywhere: what changes for PC owners

Questline and Awaken Realms say saves and achievements now carry between Xbox and PC, with existing Xbox owners requiring no additional action. That is the developers’ announcement of the game-specific implementation.

Microsoft’s official Xbox Play Anywhere guidance supplies an important ownership boundary: the program covers participating digital games owned through the Xbox or Windows Store. Those purchases provide access on Xbox consoles and compatible Windows PCs without an additional purchase, using the same Microsoft account. Microsoft also confirms that progress, add-ons and achievements travel between supported devices.

Do not confuse “available on PC” with “every PC purchase qualifies.” Microsoft’s stated entitlement applies to its participating storefront versions; it does not establish that buying the Steam edition grants an Xbox copy. Likewise, the announcement does not establish Steam-to-Xbox save migration. That distinction matters before anyone purchases a second copy expecting their existing character to follow.

For eligible digital owners, Microsoft describes the PC access process simply:

  1. Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the game.
  2. Open the Xbox app on your Windows PC.
  3. Find the participating game in My Library and install it.

Achievements use a single shared set rather than awarding a second batch for playing on another device. Think continuity, not a duplicate Gamerscore harvest.

Free DLC, but the base game is still required

The Steam listing independently confirms that Fists of Fury is free, released on October 1, and requires Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon on Steam. “Free DLC” therefore means a no-cost expansion for owners—not a free standalone game.

Its content includes a new questline beginning with a traveler in the Horns of the South, fistfighting weapons, armor and items, and a new skill tree. The weapon category lets players equip fighting gear while retaining the unarmed-combat concept. Avalon’s latest equipment upgrade is, apparently, a better way to put the sword down.

One practical warning deserves attention: the Unarmed overhaul resets and refunds skill points spent in that category for every character, according to the developers’ patch notes reproduced by RPG Site. Review your allocation before returning to combat.

Steam Deck presets and PC performance changes

The patch notes specify two Steam Deck presets in Video settings:

PresetDeveloper-stated target
QualityAround 30 FPS, with improved visuals
Performance35–40 FPS, with slightly improved visuals

Questline estimates gains of 5–30 FPS on PC and Steam hardware, depending on setup, and roughly 2 FPS on consoles. These are developer expectations, not independent benchmark results or guaranteed minimums.

Other changes include FSR upscaling, separate Grass Density and Vegetation Quality controls, and a PC draw-distance ceiling of 120%. Ultra+ now uses that distance by default; the developers warn it can affect lower-end or CPU-bound systems. Fixes also address Steam Deck black screens in Sagremor and AZERTY rebinding.

The sensible takeaway is to treat this as both a content release and a settings checkpoint. Eligible Xbox owners gain a more connected Windows experience, while Steam and handheld players receive new tuning options. Before chasing the headline performance gains, check your preset, reassess draw distance and restore any refunded Unarmed skills. More frames are welcome; an accidentally dismantled character build is rather less so.
