Pure Xbox reports that Don't Fret, from Digital Pajamas, was recently highlighted during the 28 Games Later horror showcase, and that it launches "sometime this winter." The Valiant Hearts item is a quieter, stranger story. Pure Xbox says Ubisoft's 2024 sequel simply appeared in the Game Pass catalog the week before, with no acknowledgement from Ubisoft or Xbox. The outlet says it is playable for Ultimate subscribers.

These are different kinds of news, and mixing them up would mislead readers.

• Valiant Hearts: Coming Home is already released. Its Game Pass entry is reported by Pure Xbox and not confirmed by Microsoft or Ubisoft.
• Don't Fret is not out yet. It has a "Winter 2026" window and no exact date.

Valiant Hearts: Coming Home​

The Xbox Store listing shows Ubisoft as publisher, a release date of 3/7/2024, and support for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It lists the game as single-player, with Xbox achievements and cloud saves. The listing describes four playable characters, James, George, Ernst and Anna, and a mix of exploration, action and puzzles. It frames the story as fiction set against real World War I events, including the Jutland naval battle and the Meuse-Argonne offensive.

Pure Xbox labels the Game Pass entry as Series X|S, PC and Cloud, "Out Now On XGP Ultimate." The Xbox Store page I could inspect does not say anything about Game Pass entitlement, so the subscription claim rests on Pure Xbox alone.

Pure Xbox also guesses that the game arrived through Ubisoft+. That is speculation, and I found no official statement behind it. Treat the reason for the addition as unknown.

What to do if you are a subscriber​

1. Check your own Game Pass catalog, since regional or tier differences are possible.
2. Note that the reporting names only Ultimate, so don't assume Premium, Essential or PC Game Pass include it.
3. If you don't see it, wait. An unannounced entry can also be pulled quietly.

Don't Fret​

The premise comes from Pure Xbox's description. You play Fret, a sentient guitar trapped in Harmonic Heights, a music school with a dark secret. You evade enemies, use music to solve puzzles, and uncover memories that explain why you are there.

Pure Xbox says the Game Pass mention appeared in a different trailer from the one shown at the showcase. Its own showcase roundup noted that the showcase trailer had no Game Pass branding, and that the Game Pass launch had previously been only a rumor.

Other outlets back the subscription claim. Xboxdynasty reports that Don't Fret arrives in winter 2026 as a day-one Game Pass title on Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. It adds that the game is also coming to PlayStation 5 and Steam, and names Scary Kid Studios as developer with Digital Pajamas as publisher. The Infinity Area report says the same. Pure Xbox credits Digital Pajamas, so the studio and publisher credits differ between outlets. Digital Pajamas as publisher and Scary Kid Studios as developer would fit both accounts, but I haven't confirmed that.

An Xbox Wire ID@Xbox showcase recap from October 2025 had already described the game. It called Don't Fret a first-person psychological horror in which sound works as both weapon and torment, and it mentioned musical puzzles. That confirms the game has been in Xbox's pipeline for a year. It does not confirm the 2026 window or the Game Pass claim.

Caveats​

• Treat "shadow drop" loosely. It is a reporter's label for an unannounced catalog entry, not a formal launch.
• The Ubisoft+ explanation is a guess.
• A seasonal window can slip. The game is still ahead of release.
• The Valiant Hearts store page I inspected showed a sale price of $7.49 against $14.99, ending in two days. The Ubisoft page showed a 50% discount ending October 13. That is a snapshot of the pages as captured, not a standing price.

If you subscribe to Ultimate, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home may already be in your library. Don't Fret is one to wishlist for winter, with the usual caution that no precise date exists yet. Neither story is an official Microsoft announcement, so verify availability in your own catalog.
