Armored sci-fi warriors battle a horde of demons in a ruined city, with the action displayed on a gaming monitor.
Warhammer Survivors now has a launch date of November 10, 2026. It is also coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. Auroch Digital, the developer, made the announcement on October 6. It is the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and it is working with Vampire Survivors creator poncle and Games Workshop. The announcement matters to Xbox and PC readers for three reasons: the Game Pass listing, the Xbox Play Anywhere support, and a new demo.

What was announced

Auroch Digital said the game launches on November 10, 2026 for PC (Steam and GOG), Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and mobile (iOS and Android). Worthplaying reports it will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. PlayDayOne's report says the same, calling it a day-one Game Pass launch.

Several outlets agree on the price, give or take a few cents. GameWatcher lists £6.39 / $7.99 / €7.49, with a 10% launch and pre-order discount on select platforms. One outlet, GosuGamers, gives a US price of $6.99. That conflicts with the $7.99 figure from the other outlets and from the developer's Steam post. Treat $7.99 as the likelier number and check your own store listing.

What it means for Xbox and PC players

  • Game Pass: Inclusion at launch means subscribers can play without buying the game. Xbox's own earlier announcements didn't mention Game Pass. The claim comes from the developer's October announcement as relayed by several outlets, so check your Game Pass app closer to launch for the exact tier.
  • Xbox Play Anywhere: Xbox Wire's May Warhammer Skulls recap said Warhammer Survivors and Speed Freeks would be Xbox Play Anywhere titles at launch. In practice, one purchase should cover both console and Windows PC, with cloud saves. The Xbox Store listing also shows achievements and cloud saves.
  • Microsoft Store on PC: Gematsu lists PC availability via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Other outlets mention only Steam and GOG. Xbox's Play Anywhere listing suggests a Microsoft Store version exists, but I couldn't confirm the exact PC storefront lineup.
  • Pre-orders: PlayDayOne says pre-orders opened on October 6. The developer's Steam post says otherwise for Xbox. It says start times vary by platform, with PlayStation 5 live first, Switch pre-orders from October 6 in select territories, and Xbox pre-orders beginning October 27, 2026. If you want the Xbox pre-order discount, plan around October 27 rather than today.

The demo

Gematsu says a demo is available now for PC. GosuGamers adds a detail the other reports lack. The new Steam demo includes two new playable champions: the Catachan Legend from Warhammer 40,000 and Lyssa Revenya from Age of Sigmar.

This follows the developer's July plan to pull the first demo from the Steam store. The studio said more than 190,000 players had tried that first demo, and that a replacement would carry changes made to the full game. The changes it listed were:

  • Balancing of enemies, characters and weapons.
  • Shared currency across the two Warhammer universes.
  • Bug fixes, such as unreachable weapon chests.
  • Skippable sequences.

The studio said these were non-exhaustive and subject to change. It also said it wasn't planning to change auto-aiming, because some weapons aim automatically by design and others don't.

The game itself

PlayDayOne reports more than 40 playable characters across Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, more than 75 weapons, multiple modes and stages, and boss fights. The Steam page says players can pick from over 40 champions. The weapon count is the one figure I couldn't match to an official source.

The game's pitch is simple. The Xbox Store describes a single-player roguelite with endless enemy hordes from multiple Warhammer factions. It is a Vampire Survivors-style game in the same way a cheeseburger is a Big Mac: related, but with a lot more skulls. PlayDayOne's Gyozo gave it an enthusiastic hands-on verdict, calling it a "perfect follow-up" to Vampire Survivors. That is one outlet's impression, not a settled review.

Why it's worth watching

A roughly $8 game that is also free with Game Pass is a low-risk way to try the genre. The Play Anywhere support means console and PC players don't have to choose. The demo costs nothing, so you can judge the changes yourself before November 10.

Practical steps:

  • Try the Steam demo on PC now to see whether the survivors formula works for you.
  • If you're an Xbox player, wait for Xbox pre-orders on October 27, or skip them and play through Game Pass on launch day.
  • After launch, confirm in the Xbox app whether you're getting the Play Anywhere version, so your progress follows you between console and PC.

The release date, price and Game Pass inclusion are consistent across the developer's own announcement and several outlets. Weapon counts and some PC store details rest on reporting rather than a store page, so treat them as provisional until launch.

Update: Additional details (October 6, 2026)

Worthplaying reports that the new demo is also available through Xbox on PC, not just Steam. The demo includes the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya, an ally of Callis and Toll, as playable champions.

That gives Windows players an additional way to test the current build and its community-feedback refinements before release.
