Rocket Racing: already gone, and it was never a separate store game
Rocket Racing isn't really a delisting in the usual sense. It was a racing mode built by Psyonix inside Fortnite, not a game you bought on its own from the Xbox Store. It was released on December 8th 2023 and, according to Yahoo's gaming coverage, was permanently removed in the Thursday, October 1, 2026 update, due to a lack of players.
This had been coming for months. In March 2026, Epic announced that Rocket Racing and all Fortnite Creator Made maps based on Rocket Racing would be discontinued in October 2026. Creators lose out too. Screen Rant reported that after October 1, any UEFN islands created using Rocket Racing templates would be unpublished and become unplayable, and creators can't publish updates to existing islands.
The good news is about cosmetics. Epic said all vehicle-related customizations owned by players will still be available in other modes. The cars you customized still exist in your locker. The track you raced them on is gone.
Rocket Racing is the third mode Epic has cut this year. Pocket Tactics noted that Epic's support pages list Festival Battle Stage and Ballistic, both of which were removed in April 2026. Those two were earlier removals, not part of this month's list.
Bottom line: if you own Fortnite on Xbox or PC, there's nothing to do here. The mode is offline and you can't get it back.
NBA 2K25: buy by October 30, play online through December 31
This is the most clear-cut entry, because 2K has published the dates itself. Its "NBA 2K25: Server Sunset" support notice says the game will be discontinued as of December 31, 2026, and won't be sold after October 30, 2026. 2K published the notice in early September and updated it on October 2.
There are three stages to keep track of:
- Until October 30, 2026: you can still buy the game digitally.
- October 30 to December 31, 2026: the game is off sale, but anyone who owns it keeps full online access. 2K says existing owners can still redownload it.
- From January 1, 2027: 2K says multiplayer and all online modes stop working. MyCAREER and MyTEAM go away, and you can no longer earn Virtual Currency (VC). Online Leagues and community sharing also end, because they depend on 2K's servers.
Offline modes survive. 2K lists Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyWNBA as still playable after the shutdown. Its general Online Services Status page also lists MyLeague, MyGM and 2KU/Learn 2K among NBA 2K25's offline modes.
This follows 2K's usual yearly pattern. Its status page shows NBA 2K23's online services ended on December 31, 2024, and NBA 2K24 was scheduled to run until December 31, 2025. The same page already gives NBA 2K26 an online end date of December 31, 2027, and NBA 2K27, which launched in September 2026, an end date of December 31, 2028. In practice, each NBA 2K game gets roughly a year and a quarter of online life. 2K's own page says these dates may be extended or brought forward.
What it means for you:
- If you're thinking about spending VC: you have until the end of December to use it. After that you can't earn more, and modes like MyTEAM are gone.
- If you only play offline: you can still buy the game cheaply before October 30 and keep playing after the servers shut down.
- If you mainly play MyCAREER or MyTEAM: a game bought now gives you less than three months of the modes you care about. NBA 2K26 or 2K27 is probably the better buy.
Leisure Suit Larry: confirmed for Steam, unconfirmed for Xbox
This is where the "four games" headline overstates things. The two titles are Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry and Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice, both published by Assemble Entertainment and developed by CrazyBunch.
Assemble's Steam announcement, titled "Larry Is Retiring Soon," says both games will be available on Steam only until October 23, and will then be removed from the store. It also says the publisher can't share anything about Larry's future. The announcement only mentions Steam. It says nothing about Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or mobile.
The Xbox versions are real products. Assemble's Steam news history shows Wet Dreams Dry Twice reached Xbox One in May 2021 at $44.99 digital, and a Wet Dreams Saga bundle of both games later came to the Microsoft Store. Pure Xbox's reasoning is that the same publisher handles the Xbox versions, so they may well go on the same day. Even so, Pure Xbox labels both titles as "set to be delisted, but could yet survive."
The best clue points the other way. On Steam, the games have "Last Chance" discounts of 95%. Steam lists Wet Dreams Don't Dry at $1.49, down from $29.99, with the offer ending October 23. Pure Xbox reported that the Xbox versions were still full price when it published. If the Xbox versions were also being pulled in ten days, you'd expect a clearance sale there too, though nobody has confirmed that either way.
Our reading: treat October 23 as a firm Steam deadline and only a possible Xbox one. On PC, you probably don't need to think hard about $1.49. On Xbox, check the store listing over the next week. If a deep discount suddenly shows up, that's a strong sign the Xbox versions are leaving too.
What delisting actually means for your library
Delisted and deleted are not the same thing. When a game leaves a digital store, people who already bought it usually keep it in their library and can still download it. That's the general industry norm, not a promise covering every title. For NBA 2K25, 2K has confirmed it in writing: owners can redownload after the cutoff. For the Larry games, Assemble hasn't said anything about Xbox at all.
What you can lose is anything that runs on someone else's servers. That covers online modes, like NBA 2K25's, and entire experiences, like Rocket Racing. A one-off point-and-click adventure that works offline is a very different risk from a live-service mode with no offline option.
A short checklist before the end of the month:
- Check your Xbox library for anything you bought and never installed. Download it now if you care about it.
- Use or plan your NBA 2K25 VC before January 1, 2027.
- Look at the Larry listings on the Xbox Store for any sign of a "last chance" sale, and don't buy at full price in a panic.
- Expect more removals. Pure Xbox says it is watching for further Xbox delistings before the month ends.
The bigger picture
None of these removals is unusual on its own. Annual sports games retire on a schedule, licensing and publishing deals end, and live-service experiments shut down when not enough people play them. Taken together, they're a reminder that a digital purchase is closer to a license with conditions than to a disc on a shelf. Sometimes the deadline is announced months ahead, as 2K did. Sometimes it's a Steam post that leaves Xbox owners guessing, as with Larry.
Of the four, two removals are confirmed and two depend on a publisher that hasn't said anything about Xbox. The "four Xbox games" headline will only be fully accurate if Assemble confirms the Xbox removals.
