A mechanical crocodile with glowing green Xbox branding displays a controller in its open jaws.
Xbox has unveiled the Xbox Series X-BITE, a one-off alligator with a working Xbox Series X inside. It isn't a new console in the retail sense. It's a promotional stunt, and it comes with a free sweepstakes.

The headline "brand-new console" oversells it. This is not a Series X revision, a Project anything, or a product you can buy. Xbox's own announcement calls it a custom fabrication. Dexerto reports that it is not being offered for sale, so the sweepstakes is the only announced way to own it.

A mechanical crocodile with glowing green Xbox branding displays a controller in its open jaws. What Xbox actually built

According to Xbox Wire, the piece measures more than five feet long and has the Xbox Series X console sitting inside it. The details Xbox lists:

  • The console is visible through an illuminated Xbox Nexus logo in the alligator's body.
  • A custom Xbox Wireless Controller with bite marks rests between the jaws.
  • The eyes have Xbox-green irises and pupils inspired by the Nexus.
  • Xbox says the Series X at the center still works.

Xbox credits John Nolan Studio, a creature-animatronics shop, with the build. The studio worked through 3D modeling, sculpting and fabrication. Xbox says its credits include The Witcher, Jurassic World Dominion and HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series. That filmography comes from Xbox's announcement, and I haven't verified it independently.

Xbox says no real alligators were used or harmed. It adds a closing caveat: "Best as display only." That makes it a prop with a console inside, not a replacement for your TV stand setup.

Xbox's post doesn't say how the console is mounted or cooled, or whether it has been tested for long play sessions. Anyone expecting a daily-driver Series X should treat the display-only warning seriously.

How the sweepstakes works

Xbox's official rules, as summarized in its announcement:

  1. Pick one platform: X, Instagram or TikTok.
  2. Follow @XBOX on that platform.
  3. Repost the designated Xbox sweepstakes post.
  4. Manually add #XbiteSweepstakes to your repost.
  5. Keep your account public so Xbox can see the entry.

Timing: The sweepstakes runs from 9:00 a.m. PT on November 3, 2026, through 11:59 p.m. PT on November 10, 2026. The deadline therefore falls late on November 10 Pacific time. It is not simply "November 10" in your local time zone.

Eligibility: No purchase is necessary. It is open only to legal residents of the 50 U.S. states and D.C. who are 18 or older. Readers elsewhere can look but can't enter.

If you're picked: A potential winner has 48 hours to claim the prize. TrueAchievements reports that if it goes unclaimed within that window, it will be offered to someone else. Xbox advises entrants to keep notifications on.

Xbox points to official rules at its promotions site. I haven't read the full legal text. It may contain terms I can't confirm here, such as prize value, entry limits or tax obligations. Resell Calendar notes that sweepstakes prizes typically count as taxable income at their approximate retail value. Treat that as general guidance, not a statement of these specific rules, and read the rules before entering.

Context: what's fact and what's commentary

Several outlets add their own framing, and it's worth separating that from what Xbox said.

  • The Florida angle is Xbox's own. Its post says the company is heading to Florida this November and that this inspired the build.
  • The GTA 6 link is outlet interpretation. Neowin says the console was unveiled ahead of GTA VI's launch. Playday describes it as cheeky GTA 6 marketing. ScreenRant calls it a tribute to GTA 6. Xbox's own post, as I read it, doesn't mention the game. Treat the connection as plausible speculation.
  • Next-gen hardware talk is off-topic here. ScreenRant also brings up expected next-generation Xbox hardware. That isn't part of Xbox's announcement and has no bearing on this item.

Why it's worth a mention

Xbox has a history of odd custom hardware. Resell Calendar points to a working Series S toaster and an edible Wonka controller. The X-BITE fits that pattern: it's a social-media attention grab dressed as a console mod. The marketing is clear, and the prize is real.

For Windows and Xbox readers, the practical points are short:

  • It isn't a product, so there is nothing to buy or wait for.
  • A free U.S.-only entry window closes on November 10 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
  • Your odds are one chance among everyone who reposts. Following and reposting doesn't guarantee anything.
  • If you win, expect a very large display piece.

Whether you want a five-foot gator staring at you from the credenza is a question for you and whoever shares your living room.
