Prime95 is the software used by the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS). Its Torture Test mode is also widely used to place a sustained load on a CPU, cache, and memory subsystem.
Stress-test warning
This is an intentionally demanding workload, not a casual health check. It can drive temperatures and power draw well above normal use. Monitor temperatures, ensure adequate cooling, and stop if the system becomes unstable or overheats.
Best use
Use it to investigate stability after a hardware change or overclock, with backups in place. A pass does not guarantee every application or GPU workload will be stable.
