Can I shut the computer down via the power button?

May I interject here: The very first sentence of the OP thread states that OP is using Linux and posted in the linux forum. The subsequent replies are all for windows. That said, is there a difference in the shut down procedure for Linux vs Windows. I"m not a Linux user so I don't know. I'm...

Windows updates and fixes for other Microsoft products

Looks like MS changed that. There used to be 4 options where it says/shows "About Word". This was under 1909. What version are you running.....1909 or 2004?

What is the best Windows version that faster than Windows 10?

With each new Windows release....it's faster and better than the previous version. I have no clue what that means or what you're trying to say. Could you please elaborate. There are plenty of 3rd party software out to customize your windows to your liking. Stardock is one of the most notable...

I've tried to set my computer to login without a password, need help?

Yep....I with you on that there. Power on and no input what so ever...just like in the old days of windows 7. I hate this log in crap. It's my computer, no one else uses it. So why do I need to login.....just baffles me! I just found the pin to be easier and less painful....LOL!

I've tried to set my computer to login without a password, need help?

I've never heard a chime in all my time at the login screen. I boot, login screen (no chime), use pin hit enter and I'm in to a complete functional OS in 20 seconds. This is from pressing the power button on case to functional OS. I have no complaints at all. You still on a mechanical drive...

I've tried to set my computer to login without a password, need help?

Since MS introduced the pin system.....I've been using it and really like it. I'm not normal (LOL) so I use a 20 character pin.

    Windows 10 Dell g7 15 7588 Power Problem (Help)

Just to add.....that cpu temp is kinda high. When was the last time you blew out the laptop? It should be done at least on a monthly basis if not bi-weekly...IMO. Yes....power adapters do go bad. If you do replace it....make sure you go OEM (Dell) and not some generic charger.

Windows updates and fixes for other Microsoft products

You have to update Office 2016 from with in Office. Office does not update through the WU (windows update) channel The steps I outlined are from memory as I don't use it anymore. I had Office 2016 Pro Plus. Open up word, click the file tab, click on accounts, then office updates...

I've tried to set my computer to login without a password, need help?

That's weird in itself. I'm leary about stuff like that. So the first thing I'd do is a clean install. Then run netplwiz. I have a hunch that the 2 accounts are the cause of it. It's like having multiple users with separate login's and for me that never worked with a crap.

Windows updates and fixes for other Microsoft products

You have to update Office from with in Office itself. It's part of the integration of Office 365. Open up Word, click on file, settings and go to account then click on update tab on the right.

I've tried to set my computer to login without a password, need help?

Are you using netplwiz to do this? In windows settings the only option is not to require password log in when waking from sleep mode. https://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-10/how-to-use-windows-without-a-user-password/

    Scam Alert, this just happened!!!

At least you caught it. I never ever open those kinds of emails even if they are legit. I do all that manually, either over the phone or in person for updating my credentials.

    Update Delayed

For that you'll have to check in your settings. Go to settings, update, advanced options and see if you made any changes in there. In particular with feature updates. If not then as Meemobeer stated.....MS is staggering the update. If you wish to update manually with out the ISO you can do so...

Remote Desktop stopped working all of a sudden for no reason

MS RDP has been plagued with issues since its's conception. I would look for a 3rd party software for remote access....something like Teamviewer. That said...windows 10 has a new nice feature called Quick Assist.

Windows 10 Problem Wiping PC Through Recovery

I don't use the built in reset that MS offers. If I'm going to reset/wipe as you stated, which is referred to a clean install......I use MS MCT to create a bootable USB thumb drive with current OS ISO on it. I boot from that to install my OS. I use a usb 3.0 for this and it takes me about 10...

Add comments to files in File Explorer

Natively I'm not sure that's possible. You might want to search for a 3rd party software that offers such a thing.

    I Have Windows 7.... I DON'T Want Windows 10..... Is Windows 8 a Good Choice?

What don't you like about 10? Windows 7 is no longer being supported; security updates and OS updates. There's nothing wrong with windows 8/8.1. If you like that tablet look and feel. You can make it look and feel like windows 7 with Classic Shell/Open Shell or from Stardock Start 8. I've used...
