    Power8 - Start menu replacer for Windows8

Thanks for the tip. This is really a great little program and has been a life-saver for me (personally); however, I do have two gripes about the administration of this program and they are as follows: 1-There is a "maximum activation" counter for the number of allowable installs (on the same...

[IE] any way to keep the app without seting as default?

Can you be a bit more specific about what you mean by "open links?" Specifically, where would these links reside (on your desktop?) and where would they point to (eg, internal html files, external internet urls, etc)?

    Windows 8 Reset

From what I understand, Windows 8 OEM installations do not require a COA label (with key identified) because the actual key is supposed to be embedded in the BIOS so (I'm assuming) there should never be a need (or prompt) for a license key when doing a factory restore.

    Windows 8 Partitioning Question

Well, you just taught me that a clean install of Windows 8 (legacy) reacts differently; in that, it can create either a 100MB or 350MB system partition based on unknown circumstances. So, before I go off and try to thoroughly investigate why this variance might happen, please confirm that you...

    Windows 8 Partitioning Question

Just curious as to why you are so intent on recovering a small amount of disk space (100MBs)? Also, that partition in question looks like it was created during a Windows 7 installation (and maintained throughout the Win 8 installation) because a legacy "clean install" Windows 8 installation...

[IE] any way to keep the app without seting as default?

Keeping it simple, I maintain IE as my default browser and use two distinct Firefox portable versions. Now, since IE is the only installed browser, there are no default browser conflicts. I assume you could do the same with Chrome as they have a portable version as well. Good luck!

You can try Wise Data Recovery. Its free and portable so just download it, unzip it, and run it! The good news is that you may find a majority of images that are recoverable (if you have not overwritten them with subsequent "empty recycle bin requests"); however, the bad news is that all of...

Windows 7 MSE vs 3rd Party Antivirus Solutions

Hiberfil.sys Size Increase After April Windows Updates

Hello all, After installing the April batch of Windows 8 Updates, I noticed there was a dramatic increase in my 60 GB SSD hard disk usage (almost a 5 GB increase right after the Updates). To cut to the quick, I determined that the updates had arbitrarily increased the size of my hiberfil.sys...
