Network Wireless USB 3.0 device doesn't always connect as USB 3.0.

I discovered there is a Service of RealTek that runs, RunSW.exe. The purpose is to switch from USB 2.0 to 3.0. My adapter WILL come up in 3.0 most of the time, and I've even noticed it not starting in USB 3.0 but changing to it later. I have the latest RealTek RTL8814AU driver and utility...

Net View works, then sometime later returns error 53, reboot router, works again.

Well, it is back unfortunately. As far as I can tell, at least now without any way I can think of further debugging this, is that the Router is the common component that when rebooted the problem goes away immediately and possibly over a few days? This morning my wife's PC W10 Pro was booted...

Net View works, then sometime later returns error 53, reboot router, works again.

Well, after more investigating, YES, it is FIXED... SMB Direct Windows 10 Pro Feature was the culprit. Now, it also seems NBTSTAT has a KNOWN problem for awhile. Mix of WSD/NetBios for device Discovery Methods are a KNOWN MS problem for some time in W10. Both PC's, the Home and Pro PC's, have...

Net View works, then sometime later returns error 53, reboot router, works again.

Yes, seems like it. Yesterday removed SMB Direct from the Pro PC, and NET VIEW was working all day. Today, removed the SMB 1 Server feature, and it still works fine. Oddly enough, NBTSTAT -a using my NETBIOS name returns no data, but I'm the Master Browser? Wife's PC name shows her data? Not...

Net View works, then sometime later returns error 53, reboot router, works again.

UPDATE... I may be fixed! Since I was unsure 'where' the problem lies, I tried some stuff and reviewed all the pertinent settings on both PC's. Since I only enabled the SMB 1 client on both PC's, I decided to enable the Server too (the Server is what the virus' attack) as maybe MS changed its...

Net View works, then sometime later returns error 53, reboot router, works again.

Yes, both PC's are running Norton 360, and have been for almost 2 years. Before that, Norton Security Suite. Unless Norton changed something recently to cause this to happen sometime during the day, it was a recent change?

This is the same error message I got when it isn't working. A lot of things to try too, How to troubleshoot the "System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found" message ? | IDEAL Administration : Centralized Management for Windows Active Directory Domains and Workgroups | Pointdev...

Net View works, then sometime later returns error 53, reboot router, works again.

OK, but it is the ERROR 53, which is the "The network path was not found", not happening now. Every day it happens, I just don't know when? I can PING the ROUTER, my PC, and other devices. Have to use the IP Addresses though. Right now, since it is working, I can use the NetBios names...

Net View works, then sometime later returns error 53, reboot router, works again.

On W10 2h20 with all the latest fixes as of today. Don't know when this has started, but it is annoying. Only 2 PC's on the network LAN and a Printer (wireless). Just booted right now and it does work: ================= C:\>net view Server Name Remark...

Network Wireless USB 3.0 device doesn't always connect as USB 3.0.

Thanks for the reply. I guess you didn't understand the problem? In the screen capture you'll see the device connects @ 1300Mbps. This has nothing to do with the Internet Speed or signal coming into the computer USB adapter. AC1900 devices are rated by adding the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz SSID connection...

Network Wireless USB 3.0 device doesn't always connect as USB 3.0.

I have this USB 3.0 WIreless AC1900 device: It seems to randomly on booting come up connected to USB 2.0 or 3.0. Of course, the Internet Speed will be different, USB 2.0, around 250Mbps down (probably limited by the USB 2.0 transfer speed), USB 3.0, a little over 400Mbps which is my ISP...

6/11 update wiped out my system?

Yes, they were initially. Completely baffled me too. These both are the newer PC/MAC drives. Older models came NTFS and instructions to format to the MAC filesystem if used on a MAC. ExFat of course didn't need to be. I have Dell's. Put the drive on and XPS model, added files, the next day...

6/11 update wiped out my system?

Yeah, it seems... we'll see what happens on my wife's PC I guess? Both have USB external hard drives and network adapters, but never hit that problem before? I thought it might have been my C: drive size? I had a fairly small SSD by today's standards. Checked the free space after the update...

6/11 update wiped out my system?

Yes, it DID take a long time. Basically stopped counting @ 27%, then it did reboot, stopped @48%, rebooted @ 71%, and finished. How did I 'fix it'? I saw some other older Windows updates had problems with USB drives attached. I have 2 USB devices. An External Desktop drive and a USB Network...

6/11 update wiped out my system?

Big problems today.... KB4465065 install. Said it would take some time, OK. Started d/l'ing. Took some time and then the reboot. Completed with a lot of disk thrashing. Then the reboot. Very long time and it said it would reboot a few times. Got to 27% slowly, with it staying at some...

    Boot record messed up.

Wouldn't that remove the booting to one of the W10's, the one on the hard disk? What I'd like is the BIOS to see BOTH hard drives, the SSD and mechanical one. If that could be done, the Dell BIOS F12 boot menu would allow me to choose which to boot. Right not, only the Mechanical is seen in the...

    Boot record messed up.

You are correct, and I did that with the other PC we got a few years before. Put in the SSD, disconnected other disks and installed with the PC's install disks. Was using Norton Ghost then and used it to bring the SSD up to the same as the old C:. Hit a 'small' snag as the restore wrote the same...

    Boot record messed up.

This Dell XPS 8700 started out at Windows 8.1. Before I even started using it, I used Paragon's Migrate OS to SSD 4.0 to move the C: partition to an SSD and be able to boot to it. Prior to doing that I shrunk down the original C: to basically match the SSD size and created another data partition...

Windows 10 Accessing computer on Network

Yes, just my wife and I, so we're OK. Usually it is just me that needs to transfer files from her system or do something on her system and save it on mine. Router has a GUEST ID that others can connect to which helps. At least I think they can't see my LAN shares?
