Depends if he will keep WIN 7 or change to WIN 10. Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows Defender will cover which ever he has. :)

Windows 7 WHICH is the best antivirus program for windows 7 which don't cause BSOD???

I tried Avira Pro which takes the place of Avira Internet Security and Avira antivirus suite. It uses your WIN7 firewall which is good since it integrates with the Windows 7 OS. It's quiet and cheap, $19.95 from the Download Crew. :)

    Which Anti-Virus do You Use?

I used MSE for years then I tried AVG Premium 2014 and stayed with it. AVG is light and you don't know it's there, plus it protects better, especially personal banking and I.D. protection. http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/windows-7/julaug-2013/...

    Windows 7 Firewall test

Tried my Windows 7 firewall, 64bit IE9, with TinyWall Firewall and it scored higher than the Comodo Firewall and the standard Windows 7 firewall in a test. Used Comodo Firewall tester and GRC leaktest .  No Pop-ups using the Tiny Wall firewall since it enhances the...

    ON - Off Security

It did the same before Norton 360 was installed. Did a re-install also. My Norton security isn't the problem, it's staying on, the CONTROL PANEL > ACTION CENTER > SECURITY 'on-off' setting will click to off causing an unprotected PC. My Norton stays on, but the CONTROL PANEL SECURITY status...

    ON - Off Security

I've been using Norton since 2002 , always renewed, never had a 30 day trial problem. My Norton 360 isn't turning off, it's the WINDOWS CONTROL PANEL - ACTION CENTER - SECURITY on/off switch that goes to OFF . Switching this OFF isn't making Norton go off, just keeps my PC from using Norton...

I get a red flag from the little ACTION CENTER icon at bottom once a week saying that my anti-virus, firewall, anti spyware is off. But my Norton 360 isn't off, just the ACTION CENTER on the Control Center SECURITY SETTINGS shows OFF. I have to turn my 360 off and on to reset it. Never...
