Is there Windows-own software to password files, folders, etc?

Thank you, I'll look at AxCrypt and Folder guard. At the moment I am using Rohos Mini and I am also looking at 7Zip.

Is there Windows-own software to password files, folders, etc?

AdrianGoo1: "To be clear, Windows file encryption protects your files against anyone who gets their hands on your computer. The encryption is tied to your Windows account, so when you are logged in, the files decrypt on the fly by the operating system. However, if someone were to log in through...

Is there Windows-own software to password files, folders, etc?

Ah, thanks, I can download it and try it. But I am guessing that the interface will be geekier than Rohos - but I shall try it anyway. Also as these containers are only used for very important things, a belt-and-braces person might have duplicated containers in both Rohos and 7Zip . . . . . ...

Is there Windows-own software to password files, folders, etc?

I have looked at the 7Zip website and googled for 7Zip references elsewhere, but all the comments on it are in darkest GeekSpeak, but it seems to me that its primary mission is high compression for archiving, and that it, incidentally, uses encryption and password protection. So I have been...

Is there Windows-own software to password files, folders, etc?

Mike, thanks for your comments, but I am told that Veracrypt does not generate a truly portable "safe container" that I can access on ANY Windows PC. So I am still using Rohos Mini with Rohos Disk Portable. Many thanks, Mike

Rohos Mini Drive / Rohos Disk Portable - use what for what?

OK, I have written to Rohos to ask them about making an encrypted container on my PC's internal hard drive. Re "Veracrypt will and it's free, so why pay money for something when there is a free alternative. " - Rohos Mini and Rohos Disk Portable are also free, and I cannot use Veracrypt for...

Rohos Mini Drive / Rohos Disk Portable - use what for what?

Thank you. Re "yes you could create an encrypted container on your system. " Do you mean that I could create an encrypted container on my PC's internal hard drive with Rohos Mini? Or will Rohos Mini only create encrypted containers on USB flash drives and external hard drives? (Re Bitlocker...

Rohos Mini Drive / Rohos Disk Portable - use what for what?

    1. We are told that Rohos Mini Drive creates a "strongbox" on a USB drive (or external hard drive??), so why do we need Rohos Disk Portable? 2. Can I have a "container" on my PC's hard drive too? It's a pain having to plug in a USB drive just to look up a password, I tend to use the USB...

Is there Windows-own software to password files, folders, etc?

Neemobeer - thank you - no Pro or Enterprise, so I'll have a look at Versacrypt. PS, it seems to be Veracrypt not Versacrypt?

Is there Windows-own software to password files, folders, etc?

I am using Rohos Mini Portable software to password a folder on flash drives and external hard drives, but I am wondering whether there is Windows-own software for the same purpose. Mike

Is there a really simple table-creation app, so I don't have to struggle with Word or Excel?

Many thanks for all the replies to my question. I am now very happy working in LibreOffice and I have started creating data tables in Writer and shall also look at Calc. LibreOffice is a revelation, there is no feeling that one is working in free software.

Is there a really simple table-creation app, so I don't have to struggle with Word or Excel?

zirkoni - thanks, I appreciate your help. My son has MS Office so we can swap sample LibreOffice tables in LibreOffice and .docx/xlsx formats and see how they look. It seems that in LibreOffice one can either - work in native LO format and save in either LO or MS format - or pre-set to work...

Is there a really simple table-creation app, so I don't have to struggle with Word or Excel?

Thanks very much, yes, I have been playing with Tables Generator and it is not worth the bother. I want a FILE not a phantom. I don't want "online", so I am definitely going to install LibreOffice. I am told that I can make simple text tables (no calculations, just text) in Writer or Calc...

Is there a really simple table-creation app, so I don't have to struggle with Word or Excel?

zirkoni - very helpful, thanks. Re "you can paste the generated text in a text editor. " - text editor? I have Notepad and Wordpad, or I could get LibreOffice. Or is there a small simple one? Once in a text editor, I guess that I could edit the text in the table, but not change the shape of...

Is there a really simple table-creation app, so I don't have to struggle with Word or Excel?

The app Tables Generator offers these tables (see attachment). It's all Greek to me, which table type should I use for my primitive requirements as discussed above? If these are online, can I save them to my PC?

I have found some relevant stuff here, I haven't studied it yet. https://www.thewindowsclub.com/best-free-online-table-generator-tools-to-create-tables-for-any-purpose
