About this tag
The error code 0x80070091, often accompanied by the message 'The directory is not empty,' typically occurs in Windows when attempting to delete or replace a folder. Common scenarios include drag-and-drop operations on WebDAV shared folders in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, as well as folder corruption during software installations like Office. Users have reported that standard deletion fails, and solutions involve running an elevated Command Prompt, taking ownership of the folder, or using disk repair tools such as chkdsk. In some cases, autochk.exe may become disabled, requiring manual restoration. The error indicates a file system or permission issue rather than hardware failure.
Fixes an issue in which you receive a 0x80070091 error message when you try to replace a folder in a WebDAV shared folder in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2. This issue occurs after you map a network drive to the shared folder.
