About this tag
The 24bit tag on WindowsForum.com covers discussions about 24-bit color depth settings and audio issues in Windows environments. One thread addresses a Creative Audigy 2 ZS sound card producing no sound after upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7, despite driver installation and visible playback activity. Another thread provides a registry edit to change Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 from default 16-bit to 24-bit color depth for full-screen display. These posts reflect common troubleshooting scenarios involving 24-bit audio or color configuration on Windows systems.
I just decided to format my XP computer and install Windows 7 (x64). I made no hardware changes. I went to the creative website, downloaded the compatible drivers for my card, installed them, ran through any updates..........and there is zero sound.
If I try to play something in Media Player...
I do not know if this has been posted before. XP Virtual on an W7 machine default full screen is 16 bit colour.
However with the following regedit you can change it to 24 bit colour for full screen.
Virtual Regedt
This edit will get XP in virtual mode to run in 24 bit color
