Discussions about 2.5 inch drives on WindowsForum.com often focus on power and connectivity issues when using USB hubs. Users report that connecting 2.5 inch portable hard drives to a hub can cause logical bad sectors, while direct connection to the computer's main port resolves the problem. The 2.5 inch drives lack their own power source, relying on USB bus power, which may be insufficient through a hub. In contrast, 3.5 inch drives with external power adapters are less prone to such issues. Community advice emphasizes using powered hubs or direct ports for 2.5 inch drives to avoid data corruption.
