About this tag
The Intel Core i7-8700K (8700K) is a Coffee Lake CPU that generates frequent discussion around thermal performance, memory compatibility, and hardware error logging. Users report high temperatures under stress tests like Prime95 and Asus Real Bench, even at stock settings, raising questions about cooler adequacy and AVX workloads. Memory speed and XMP profiles are common concerns, with some users wondering if 2133MHz RAM bottlenecks the 8700K versus the recommended 2666MHz. WHEA Logger errors (Event IDs 19 and 47) have been observed on idle systems, though they may be transient. The tag covers troubleshooting these issues on Z370 motherboards, including safe mode posts after enabling XMP.
