About this tag
The 990FX chipset, used in motherboards like the Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0, is an AMD AM3+ platform that supports high-end desktop processors. Common issues include missing network drivers after a fresh Windows installation, which can prevent internet access via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Users also report troubleshooting boot problems, such as the motherboard's standby LED staying lit while CPU, RAM, and boot device LEDs never light up, often requiring testing with different CPUs, PSUs, RAM, and GPUs. Additionally, the 990FX chipset gained support for Nvidia SLI technology, allowing multi-GPU configurations with both CrossFire and SLI on AMD-based boards from manufacturers like Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI.
