alcohol 120%
About this tag
Alcohol 120% is a virtual drive application used to mount disc images, such as ISO files. On WindowsForum.com, users have reported that Alcohol 120% can cause system issues, including BSODs linked to its driver (e.g., STPD.sys), phantom IDE controllers appearing in Device Manager, and explorer.exe crashes. Many users also encountered installation problems on Windows 7, where the setup would loop requiring repeated reboots without completing. These issues often lead users to seek alternative tools for mounting ISO files, as Alcohol 120% and similar programs like Daemon Tools may not work reliably on newer Windows versions.
I am starting a list of drivers and what application they are associated with anyone want me to include one of theirs feel free to contact me with it
For example when examining a BSOD if the probably casued by file was STPD.sys we would know it was from a virtual driver app like daemon tools...
I was in the middle of upgrading Vista Home Premium 32bit to Windows 7 when the installer told me I needed to update the drivers for my IDE drive. Well, I don't have any IDE drives, and my IDE controller is disabled in bios, so I found that strange.
Looking in device manager, under Storage...

Hi, I've been using windows 7 for some time now, works fine here. Except I can't install Daemon tools, cuz it's not compatible.
So I decided to check if Alcohol 120% would work, but it can't install aswell cuz it requires a reboot and after that the setup will just start all over again...
What tool can i use to mount iso-files under win7?
i tried out DaemonTools and Alcohol120% as well as VirtualCloneDrive, but none of them worked:(
any suggestions:confused:
I have tried several Emulators and none of them appear to be working with 7... Daemon tools tells you that it is incompatible, and alcohol just reboots the system and starts from scratch every time it boots up. Anyone have any ideas for this?
