Apple Bonjour is a service that sometimes appears on Windows systems, even during clean installs of Windows 8.1, without any Apple software being explicitly downloaded. It is designed for network discovery and service advertisement, similar to Zeroconf, and is often used by iTunes or other Apple applications. Users have reported issues where Bonjour only works one way on a network, allowing a Windows 7 system to be seen by others but not to see them. Additionally, Bonjour can be used to connect to network printers via an Apple Time Capsule router, though compatibility with Windows XP Mode may require additional configuration.

    Windows 8 Why Does Apple Bonjour Install During Windows 8.1 Clean Install?

    I've noticed lately that when I do a clean install of windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, that it installs the Apple Bonjour service. Can somebody please explain to me why this is? I've not downloaded any Apple software nor have I connected an Apple product to my PC. This clean install was done on 6/18/15.
