About this tag
The "arrange by" feature in Windows Explorer allows users to sort files and folders by criteria such as name, date, type, or custom metadata. In Windows 7, this feature is prominent in libraries like Music and Pictures, where users can arrange by album, artist, or day. However, some users report issues such as missing options (e.g., day/month in Windows 11), files disappearing when arranging by name, or inability to change to "Folders" view in My Pictures. Custom libraries may also fail to respond to arrange by settings. These problems often relate to library configuration, metadata tagging, or folder location. Discussions include troubleshooting steps and differences between Windows versions.

This is weird... When I arrange a folder by name that is located in My Documents, all the files disappear and refresh doesnt bring them back! I can reproduce it consistently using blank text documents. If I copy that folder and paste it somewhere outside my documents, I can see the contents...
