auto-expand
About this tag
The auto-expand tag covers discussions about Windows Explorer's folder tree auto-expansion behavior, particularly when using command-line shortcuts like `explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\data` to open a specific directory with the tree view expanded and the folder selected. Users report that this command works in Windows 7 but fails in Windows 8, where the tree does not auto-expand or mark the target directory. Another common issue is that Windows 7's Explorer no longer auto-expands folders on single-click, requiring a double-click instead, which differs from XP behavior. The tag also includes problems with pinned taskbar shortcuts lacking properties to set auto-expand commands. These threads focus on troubleshooting and restoring the auto-expand functionality across different Windows versions.

and auto-expand and mark that directory in left side tree view with the following command:
%windir%\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\data
It works fine in Win 7.

When I clicked on this shortcut WinExplorer opened with the pre-selected and auto-expanded...
This has been a pet peeve of mine on Win7 ever since I upgraded months ago.
I'm real big on using Windows Explorer to navigate around my drives, looking at files, photos, movies, whatever. There are two things that the folder list, on the left side of the screen, does differently from it's XP...
