About this tag
BD-R (Blu-ray Disc Recordable) is a write-once optical disc format for high-capacity data storage. On Windows, users have reported several issues when burning or using BD-R discs. A known error 0x80071AC3 occurs when copying files to a BD-R, likely due to a decade-old bug in the UDF 2.60 live file system driver that exhausts the metadata partition space. Additionally, Windows Explorer may stop responding when inserting a recordable BD-R, and Windows 7 may incorrectly calculate the writable area on BD-R, BD-R DL, and BD-R XL discs, causing burning failures in master mode. These problems affect single-layer, dual-layer, and XL variants. Microsoft has released fixes for some of these issues.
