bootexecute
About this tag
The bootexecute tag covers discussions about the BootExecute registry value located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager. This value controls which programs run during system startup, most commonly autocheck and autochk for disk checking. Users encounter issues such as chkdsk running repeatedly on every boot or disk checking being cancelled unexpectedly. Troubleshooting involves verifying the BootExecute data, checking for dirty volumes with fsutil, and using chkntfs to exclude drives from automatic checking. The tag is relevant for Windows 7 and later versions where persistent disk checking or incorrect BootExecute settings cause startup delays or errors.

I ran chkdsk tonight and got a message that was so quick I can barely...
