cache verification

About this tag
Cache verification is a troubleshooting step used to check the integrity of game files, often through platforms like Steam. In a Windows context, users may verify the cache of a game to resolve issues such as programs running only in the background after a crash. This process checks for missing or corrupted files and can help restore normal functionality without a full reinstall. While cache verification is commonly associated with gaming, it is also relevant for other software that uses local file caches. The tag covers discussions where users seek help with verification steps and related troubleshooting on Windows systems.

Windows 7 Program Stuck in Background

So after 30 hours on Fallout 4, my computer shut down while it was launching. Now, when I launch it, the game runs but it is only in the background. I can't see it, play it, etc. I've reinstalled 3 times, gotten the drivers, verified my cache, asked 5 other websites, etc. etc.
