About this tag
The CDFS (Compact Disc File System) tag on WindowsForum.com covers user issues related to Windows incorrectly identifying drives as CDFS. In one case, a user's internet dongle appeared as a CDFS drive in Windows 7 but failed to show in Windows 8.1, preventing internet access. Another user accidentally set a second hard drive to CDFS in Windows 7's disk management, causing the drive to appear as unallocated and inaccessible. Discussions focus on correcting the file system misidentification without reformatting, often by removing the drive and reconnecting it to prompt Windows to re-detect the correct file system. These threads highlight troubleshooting steps for CDFS-related detection problems in Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.
