Code 52 is a Windows device manager error indicating that the system cannot verify the digital signature for a device's drivers. This issue commonly affects hardware such as wireless adapters, webcams, and optical drives like CD/DVD-ROMs. The error often appears after a malware infection or a software change that corrupts driver signature verification. Users report that temporarily disabling driver signature enforcement via F8 at boot or using the command 'bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON' can restore functionality, but the fix may not persist after a restart. A more permanent solution involves editing the Windows Registry to delete UpperFilters and LowerFilters entries under the device class GUID in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class. This removes corrupted filter drivers that trigger the signature verification failure.
