committed memory

About this tag
Committed memory refers to the total amount of virtual memory that has been allocated by the system and applications, including both physical RAM and the page file. In Windows 10, users have reported that committed memory can grow uncontrollably, eventually leading to system crashes. This issue has been observed after major updates like the Creators Update. Symptoms include high committed memory usage in Task Manager even when physical RAM usage appears normal. Troubleshooting steps often involve checking for memory leaks in drivers or software, adjusting virtual memory settings, or rolling back updates. Understanding committed memory is key to diagnosing stability problems on Windows systems.
