About this tag
Discussions tagged with 'compress' on WindowsForum.com cover file compression techniques and tools. Users ask about compressing media files like .mp4 with WinRAR or built-in zipped folders, noting that standard compression may not reduce size for already compressed formats. A tutorial explains how to enable 'Compress contents to save disk space' in folder properties to change folder text color to blue on Windows 8. Another thread addresses errors when sending minidump files to a zipped folder, troubleshooting permission issues. The tag also appears in a broader conversation about file transfer apps, where compression affects image and video quality during sharing.

Hello, and welcome to my first tutorial! Today, I am going to explain how to make folder text blue like "Panther" in your Windows folder.
Note that you cannot make folders blue directly from the desktop.
Note that this was tested on Windows 8 only.
Note that the view type is set to "Details"...
Archiving using Winrar produces a file of exactly the same size as does sending to a compressed zipped folder.. am I just using the wrong settings..? (I've tried multiple) or do I need a specific utility for this..?
Thanks.
Hello,
I am trying to compress a file by sending to zipped folder.
The file is a window minidump from a BSOD.
I find that when I try and do this I get the error message "File not found or no read permission".
I am definitely have administrative rights so I don't know what the problem is...
