control block
About this tag
On WindowsForum.com, the tag 'control block' appears in a discussion about Windows build 7077 where a user compares expiration dates reported by SIW and WINVER. The term is used to refer to a piece of operating system data that stores expiry information, with the user questioning why two different tools show conflicting dates from what they call an OS 'control block'. This suggests the tag is associated with low-level Windows data structures related to build expiration and activation status, particularly in pre-release or beta versions of Windows.
Hi all
I have a little point of confusion with SIW and Winver for X-64 build 7077.
SIW reports expiry date as 6 June 2010
Winver reports expiration date as Mar 2nd 2010.
Who'se telling the truth and who'se the "Big fibber".
slmgr report as "Permanently activated" so that's no good as a 3rd...
