About this tag
The customer display tag covers issues related to point-of-sale (POS) pole displays connected via serial ports on Windows systems. A common problem involves the POS software failing to connect to the display, often requiring manual removal of the COM port in Device Manager followed by a reboot. This suggests potential conflicts with serial port allocation or driver issues. Troubleshooting typically focuses on ensuring no other application is claiming the port and verifying hardware connections. The tag is relevant for users managing retail or hospitality setups where customer-facing displays are used to show transaction totals.
